Buckeyes name players of game from win over Notre Dame

Ohio State wasn’t as flashy as many have become accustomed to seeing it be over the last couple of years. And that’s more than alright for a Buckeyes team trying to prove it has regained its toughness, a trait they certainly showed in the 21-10 win over Notre Dame.

For the win, the program named its players of the game. On offense, Miyan Williams was named the player of the game after rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.

On defense, defensive tackle Mike Hall received the honor after tallying two tackles for loss and a sack — and four total tackles as a first-time starter.

And the special teams player of the game, an obvious choice, was former walk-on Xavier Johnson, the wide receiver who caught the go-ahead touchdown pass in the second half and then made a tackle on the ensuing kickoff.

The champions list from the win over Notre Dame should be out early this week. But for now, the program has already made sure to name its players of the game.

Buckeyes open as huge favorite over Arkansas State

Ohio State passed its first test of the season.

The top-five win over a talented, tough Notre Dame team gave the Buckeyes a glimpse of how good they can be if everything continues to progress. Now they’re gearing up for a lesser opponent this week — but they certainly won’t treat Saturday as such.

Ohio State will battle Arkansas State on Saturday at Noon inside the Horseshoe, and the Buckeyes will do so as a 45-point favorite, according to the folks at VegasInsider.

After the challenge of facing Notre Dame to open the season, the Buckeyes are proud of how they performed in the grind-it-out win. Now they have to refocus in the coming week.

With a win over a ranked opponent already in hand, the Buckeyes now have their second nonconference game of the season upcoming. And they’ll enter that contest as a massive favorite over Arkansas State.
