COLUMBUS — Ohio State routinely recruits some of the best players across the country and the commits in the 2024 class are no exception.

Four-star New Palestine (Ind) offensive tackle Ian Moore is no exception to that take. The 6-foot-6, 295-pound tackle played for one of the best teams in Indiana for the last two years and was one of the best players in the Hoosier State. With the season behind him, Moore’s play is being recognized as he was named the Indiana Mr. Football Offensive Lineman.

Moore was selected by the Indiana Football Coaches Association and is now one of 10 finalists for the IndyStar Mr. Football award.

He is the No. 150 overall prospect and the No. 3 Indiana prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings.

He is one of four offensive linemen committed to the Buckeyes’ 2024 class. Four-star Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward twins Deontae and Devontae Armstrong, and four-star Coopersville (Mich) interior offensive lineman Gabe VanSickle. Moore will be an early enrollee as well and is expected on campus in January for workouts.

He’s made impressive growth ever since he and Ohio State mingled. Moore camped in Columbus in the summer going into his junior season where he and offensive line coach Justin Frye bonded. He left that camp with an offer and then took a few game-day visits before he committed last October.

He is the longest-committed prospect to the 2024 cycle and is only a few more weeks away from having that verbal commitment turn into the real thing.

“There is recruiting to it, but like, it’s Ohio State, and you can’t really beat it,” Moore said over the summer. “It’s family here, it’s a brotherhood. No matter how far away you are from your family, this is a brotherhood.

“Coach Frye,” Moore replied when asked about his favorite thing about Ohio State. “I love coach Frye and coach Mike [Sollenne]. They’re probably the best two coaches I’ve talked to.”

It’s not just Ian Moore who is excited to be a Buckeye soon, but his family as well. Lettermen Row spoke with his parents earlier in the year about Ohio State and why the program was the right fit for the entire family.

“We’ve met a lot of people and we’ve met a lot of coaching staffs, but there’s been nobody like coach Day,” Ian’s father, Terry, said. “And then you get coach Justin Frye and coach Mike Sollenne, those dudes are solid people.

“You want to be able to know that your kid is going to a place that it’s not just about wins and losses,” Moore said. “They’re going to take care of him like a parent.”
