COLUMBUS — Ohio State added the fourth member of its 2024 class Wednesday evening: Jeremiah Smith has committed to the Buckeyes.

The five-star Hollywood (Fla) Chaminade-Madonna Prep wide receiver chose the Buckeyes over nearly 30 schools including Miami, Florida, Alabama and Florida State.

Smith is the No. 1 rated wide receiver in the 2024 cycle and the No. 2 overall prospect according to the On3 Consensus. On3 has Smith as the No. 4 overall prospect.

This a decision that many have seen coming but Smith has been patient in his decision-making process. Smith has a natural bond with Ohio State wide receiver coach Brian Hartline and he isn’t shy about his love for the Buckeyes. Throughout his championship season with Chaminade-Madonna, Smith often wore Ohio State gloves and he had an Ohio State helmet sticker.

Hartline continues to recruit South Florida at an elite level and the addition of Smith to the Buckeyes’ 2024 class is another step in the right direction for Ohio State.

Smith now joins the country’s No. 1 overall prospect in five-star Chandler (Ariz.) quarterback Dylan Raiola. That’s certainly a quarterback-wide receiver duo to give opposing defenses nightmares in the future.

Four-star New Palestine (Ind.) offensive lineman Ian Moore and four-star Sunbury (Ohio) Big Walnut linebacker Garrett Stover are also in the Buckeyes’ No. 1 rated 2024 class.

Smith has the opportunity to continue a long line of trending wide receiver talent for Ohio State and follow in the footsteps of plenty of Buckeye greats.

His decision to commit to Ohio State falls on the same day that 2023 four-star Pierre (S.D.) T.F. Riggs quarterback Lincoln Kienholz flipped from Washington to Ohio State.

Ohio State already had its quarterback in the 2024 class, and now it has its No. 1 wide receiver.

Jeremiah Smith is going to be a Buckeye.
