The Early-Signing Period is here and Ohio State is set to once again bring in one of the country’s best recruiting classes. Lettermen Row is tracking the Buckeyes recruiting news throughout the signing period as 2024 commitments officially join the Ohio State football program. The latest Letter of Intent is in: Sam Williams-Dixon has signed with the Buckeyes.

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has taken in-state recruiting to a whole new level. The Buckeyes know the talent within their borders is improving and as a result, more of that talent is staying home.

Sam Williams-Dixon has signed his Letter of Intent to Ohio State.

The in-state running back is one of eight in-state prospects staying home. But what does it mean for Ohio State? Lettermen Row breaks it down.

Who is Sam Williams-Dixon?

Sam Williams-Dixon is a three-star running back originally from Columbus, Ohio, but has moved around throughout his high school career. He earned his Ohio State offer while attending West Holmes in Millersburg, Ohio, but transferred to Pickerington North for his senior season.

Williams-Dixon committed to Ohio State on April 15, 2023, and made two official visits: Ohio State and Kentucky.

On3 Industry Ranking: No. 754 overall, No. 63 RB, No. 29 Ohio

On3 Ranking: UR Overall, No. 35 RB, No. 20 Ohio

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

High School: Pickerington North

Sam Williams-Dixon is the textbook Swiss Army knife player for the Buckeyes in the 2023 class. He was recruited as a running back and that’s where he will start once he arrives on campus next month. But he does have the capabilities to play other positions throughout the field – and on both sides of the ball.

There is no doubt that Williams-Dixon is a Power 5 level player, and he gets to work with the Buckeyes soon.

How did Williams-Dixon end up at Ohio State?

Sam Williams-Dixon played the waiting game with the Buckeyes. He turned in an incredible junior tape where he ran for over 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns. With that and multiple visits during the 2022 season and the spring of 2023, Williams-Dixon finally earned the offer from running backs coach Tony Alford in March.

It only took one visit before he decided to commit to the scarlet and gray on the Buckeyes’ spring game.
“It was just a dream come true,” Williams-Dixon told Lettermen Row about being offered by Ohio State and having it as a top school. “Just a kid from Ohio getting offered meant a lot to me and my family, and just gave me even more motivation than before.”
