COLUMBUS — Ohio State is in the middle of its busiest preparation month since August.

The Buckeyes are fortunate to balance preparing for their College Football Playoff game on New Year’s Eve and closing the deal on a top-four class.

Peach Bowl preparation takes place in the morning and early afternoon and the evening is when recruiting takes place. Wednesday afternoon, however, saw coach Ryan Day and wide receiver coach Brian Hartline in Brunswick, Connecticut, where they visited with offensive tackle commit Miles Walker.

The Greenwich (Conn) Brunswick School three-star prospect is the No. 33 rated offensive tackle and the No. 493 overall prospect according to the On3 Consensus.

Walker committed to Ohio State on July 8, roughly a month after his official visit to see the program. Since that official visit, Walker has returned to campus just once, and that was on Nov. 26 for the Michigan game.

He is a 6-foot-6, 275-pound prospect who collected 23 offers. Walker is a raw talent, but offensive line coach Justin Frye likes the blank canvas he has to work.

Walker was the fourth offensive lineman who committed to Ohio State this cycle. Luke Montgomery, Josh Padilla and Austin Siereveld, all in-state prospects, complete the board for Frye in his first cycle at Ohio State.

It’s a strong group for the Buckeyes. Walker has true offensive tackle written all over him given his size, strength and relative speed. Montgomery, while projected as an interior offensive lineman, will kick out to tackle.

Siereveld and Padilla both will stay in the interior with a guard or center positioning to be determined.

Ohio State has 19 commits to its 2023 class in total with nine of them on the offensive side of the ball.

The early signing period for the 2023 cycle begins on Dec. 21 and ends on the 23.
