Barry Odom’s first training camp at Purdue: Key dates to know

The Barry Odom era officially will begin on August 30, when the first-year Purdue coach leads the Boilermakers in their season-opener vs. Ball State in Ross-Ade Stadium.
But plenty of work has been going on since Odom was hired in December. And things will really pick up on July 31, a date GoldandBlack.com has learned when training camp will begin.

Purdue, which reports for camp on July 30, will practice 25 times leading up to the opener vs. the Cardinals. There will be two scrimmages and a mock game in August. Classes start August 25.

Odom has performed a near complete overhaul of the roster, bringing in 55 players from the transfer portal. How will all of this new talent blend? And how quickly will chemistry develop for a program coming off a disastrous 1-11 season that arguably was the worst in school annals?
Myriad questions loom for the Boilermakers, who face a daunting schedule that includes home games vs. USC, Ohio State, Illinois and Indiana as well as road games at Notre Dame, Michigan and Washington.
