Recruiting Analysis: 2027 Tight Ends
Purdue signed two tight end prospects in the 2026 recruiting class, Cooper McCutchan and ArMari Towns. The Boilermakers are in the mix for several talented tight ends in the 2027 cycle, as well.
The Boilermakers have a bevy of prospects on the board at tight end in the class, including several key targets that are names to know.

Key names to know:
Mason Oglesby: New Palestine (Ind.) four-star
Oglesby has long been a key name for the Boilermakers in the 2027 class, but the New Palestine product seems destined to land in Bloomington. The four-star right end is down to six schools, which includes Purdue, Indiana, North Carolina, USC, Kansas, and Missouri.
Indiana is the clear frontrunner at the moment and Oglesby has gone on record to say it will be tough for another program to unseat Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers. With that being said, Purdue will remain looking to do just that.
Colton Johnson: Upperman (Tenn.)
A name that will be among the biggest risers when the next 2027 rankings update is finalized will be Tennessee tight end Colton Johnson. Back in November, Purdue became the first Power 4 program to enter his recruitment.
North Carolina State, Arkansas, SMU, Florida State, Memphis, Duke, Tulane, Virginia, Cincinnati, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Maryland, Vanderbilt, and Michigan State, have since entered the mix.
Johnson is working on setting an official visit to West Lafayette, but a date has yet to be finalized.

Maddox Hager: Boyle County (Ky.)
Hager is an interesting prospect. The Kentucky native missed his junior year due to injury, but still has offers from Purdue, Wisconsin, Louisville, Cincinnati, Kentucky, and others. Hager was on campus this fall for an unofficial visit and is a name worth monitoring for the Boilermakers.
No visit plans have been made for the spring or official visit season for Hager, yet, but that will change in the near future.
Recently offered tight end prospects:
Tytan DeJong: Mountain Ridge (Ut.)
One of two recently offered tight ends in the 2027 cycle. DeJong, a Utah native, has picked up offers from BYU, Stanford, Oregon State, Michigan, and Cal, in addition to the Boilermakers since the start of 2026.
BYU and Michigan are two to watch at the moment for the Utah standout, who plays both sides of the ball.
Max Patterson: North Gwinnett (Ga.)
A Peach State native, North Gwinnett tight end Max Patterson was another tight end that has recently been added to Purdue’s recruiting board. Patterson was offered on January 28, joining the likes of Texas A&M, Kentucky, Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, USF, Boston College, Kansas, and Colorado State, among others.
Other tight ends with Purdue offers:
Jackson Ballinger: Centerburg (Oh.)
Joshua Pettigrew: Houston County (Ga.)
Ben Hynek: Stanley (N.D.)
Landon Wolny: Fort Myers (Fla.)
Mason Hall: Oconee County (Ga.)
Judah Lancaster: IMG Academy (Fla.)
Reilly Newman: Lakota West (Oh.)
Anthony Cartwright: Detroit Country Day (Mich.)
