Oklahoma State PF transfer Tyreek Smith commits to SMU

SMU Basketball landed a commitment from Oklahoma State transfer power forward Tyreek Smith on Wednesday, he announced on Twitter. He’ll have two years of eligibility left with the Mustangs.
Smith transferred to Oklahoma State after spending one season at Texas Tech. He primarily came off of the bench for the Cowboys, starting in 16 of his 66 game appearances during his tenure in Stillwater. Last season he averaged 5.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game on 59.7% shooting from the field.
Before redshirting in Stillwater during the 2021-22 campaign, he was with Texas Tech for two seasons. He medically redshirted for the 2019-20 season then played as a reserve in all 29 games for the Red Raiders where he averaged 2.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and was second on the team with 21 blocked shots.

Smith played high school hoops at Trinity Christian School in Texas, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 124 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to On3’s Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
SMU already has a pair of transfer guards signed in Denver Anglin and Chuck Harris. The Mustangs continue to rebuild the roster for Rob Lanier’s second season with the program.
