As expected, the recruiting process is winding down for South Carolina football wide receiver target Elijah Caldwell.

The Rock Hill (S.C.) Northwestern class of 2023 three-star playmaker will announce his decision between South Carolina and N.C. State Thursday afternoon between 1:00 and 2:00, Gamecock Central has confirmed.

As of right now, it appears Caldwell is not planning a ceremony and will just announce his decision on social media.

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer, offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains and wide receivers coach Justin Stepp met with Caldwell for an in-home visit on Tuesday.

Stepp was also by Northwestern High last week and Caldwell took an official visit to South Carolina on the weekend of Jan. 20. His On3 profile shows that he took an official visit to N.C. State the weekend prior.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder committed to West Virginia in July but decommitted in December just before the early signing period and instead chose to wait until February to sign.

That may prove to be a prudent move by the Palmetto State playmaker as the Shrine Bowl performer added an offer from N.C. State in December and has since also added scholarships from Georgia Tech, Purdue and the Gamecocks.

Caldwell had a massive senior season for the Trojans amassing 77 receptions for 1,365 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2022.

Caldwell also has offers from Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Duke, East Carolina and Marshall.

Caldwell is the No. 863 overall prospect and No. 124 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 10 player in South Carolina.

South Carolina has already signed five in-state prospects in its 2023 class.

Caldwell is one of two remaining uncommitted high school targets that South Carolina is targeting for the class to go along with five-star “athlete” Nyckoles Harbor.

Long-time South Carolina Gamecocks recruiting target Nyckoles Harbor is in the home stage of his recruitment, with one week to go until the beginning of the February signing period.

Until this week, USC head coach Shane Beamer had not yet used his one allotted contact period visit to meet with Harbor. That trip to D.C. was originally slated for Thursday, but has been changed.
