The University of South Carolina’s tradition of the student who plays school mascot “Cocky” revealing their secret identity during their graduation ceremony has suddenly found national eyeballs this week.

After two years of entertaining fans from underneath the garnet Cocky suit, Sarah Sylvester walked across the graduation stage over the weekend wearing the mascot’s yellow feet, as is tradition.

She also brought the crowd to their feet one final time by leading a rendition of ‘2001’ to which the football team runs out of the tunnel on gamedays in the fall.

While the big reveal has been a South Carolina tradition for some time, the video of Sylvester has garnered national attention this week with ABC News, Outkick, The Spun, and numerous local sites as well as a highly trafficked reddit page among those to feature it.

Sylvester, who earned her degree in biomedical engineering, plans to pursue her Master’s degree next, according to an article by Michaela Taylor on the university’s official website.

“The most surreal experience is coming out of the box for the first time. Being Cocky is a very rare thing and not very many people get to do that,” Sylvester said in the article. “When I came out of the box for the first time, that was the most insane experience.”

South Carolina WBB signee Milaysia Fulwiley goes off in Overtime Elite Takeover game

A couple of months after competing in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Game, South Carolina women’s basketball signee Milaysia Fulwiley was showing off her impressive skillset in the OverTime Elite WBB Takeover 5s game over the weekend in Atlanta.

So impressive was the performance of the guard from Keenan that a mixtape of her best plays was featured on the OT Elite Twitter account, which you can check out below.

The game features less than traditional scoring, as one can see in the video, with 4-pointers and even 6-pointer spots on the court — but no matter how you count it, it was a strong showing for the Columbia native.

Fulwiley scored 24 points in the exhibition on 9-for-16 shooting including hitting 4-for-8 from 3-point land while adding five rebounds and three assists.
