Just like his teammates Kingsley Enagbare and Kevin Harris did before him, Nick Muse had to wait until the third and final day of the NFL Draft before finally hearing his name called.

With the 277th overall pick in the seventh round, the Minnesota Vikings selected the 6-5, 269-pound Muse.

Earlier in the week, Muse told Gamecock Central that two of the reasons he decided to come back to South Carolina this past season were because he wasn’t 100% in 2020, following his ACL injury in 2019, and two that he wanted to play on special teams.

While hauling in 20 receptions this past season for 222 yards and two touchdowns didn’t hurt Muse, what really helped his draft stock was the impact he made in blocking and on special teams.

“That’s something you gotta learn as a player,” Muse told Gamecock Central in that same interview. “Sometimes you don’t want to run out there on fourth down after you just ran a seam ball on third down and you’re tired and huffing and puffing but that’s where you make your money and that’s where you stay on a team. These teams need somebody that can do more than just run a route or block. As much as I can do I just want to try to help the team and whatever they need me to play I’m gonna do.”

Muse becomes the third Gamecock drafted this weekend joining Enagbare who was selected in the fifth round with the 179th overall pick by the Green Bay Packers and Harris who was drafted four picks later at pick 183 in the sixth round by the New England Patriots.

This marks the fourth straight year that USC has had at least three Gamecocks selected in a draft.
