As On3 | Rivals expands its high school sports coverage, it will regularly post rankings of the top high football programs in the nation. Longtime high school sports writer Andy Villamarzo has released a way-too-early national high school football top 25 ahead of the 2025 season, and 11 teams from the state of Texas made the cut.

While California’s Mater Dei took the top spot, the rest of the top five featured a strong Lone Star State flavor.

Duncanville, who missed the 2024 state finals after taking home the 2023 UIL 6A Division I championship, was the No. 2 team. With star Power Conference players like Kevin Ford and Landon Barnes, another title for Reginald Samples’ program is a strong possibility.

Just behind the Panthers were the DeSoto Eagles. DeSoto won the 2023 UIL 6A Division II title but like Duncanville also missed the state finals in 2024. Boobie Feaster and other strong standouts have IH-20 as the center of the prep football universe once again.

At No. 4 was 2024 UIL 6A Division I state champions North Crowley. After one of the best high school seasons in recent memory — a 16-0 march that saw the Panthers defeat teams like Lancaster, DeSoto, Denton Guyer, Allen, Duncanville, and Austin Westlake — North Crowley is in position for back-to-back title runs. Texas target John Turntine leads an offense that will have to replace some Power Conference losses.

Texas was well represented in the top 10. Galena Park North Shore was No. 6 and Southlake Carroll was No. 9.

Other Texas teams in the top 25 included Humble Summer Creek, Humble Atascocita, Austin Westlake, Allen, Coppell, and Longview.
