Cory Schlesinger expected to be hired as head strength and conditioning coach

Cory Schlesinger is leaving the NBA and is expected to join the Texas Longhorns as the head strength and conditioning coach, Inside Texas has learned.

Schlesinger leaves his post as the Director of Performance and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Phoenix Suns, a position he held from 2019 through this season.

The Hillsville, Va. native has more than a decade of experience at the college and professional level.

A former point guard at Berea College in Kentucky, Schlesinger spent three seasons as the Director of Sports Performance at Santa Clara University. During the three years with at Santa Clara, he worked with the men’s and women’s basketball programs.

Schlesinger than made his way to Birmingham to direct the UAB strength and conditioning program under then head coach Jerod Hasse. The Blazers won 64 games in three seasons, including back-to-back post season appearances.

Schlesinger made the move to Stanford after Hasse was hired to lead the program. In three seasons at Stanford he served as the Director of Basketball Performance. Schlesinger also trained the 2019 National Champion Stanford Men’s Golf team.
