Lockett, the No. 19 overall prospect, the No. 3 wide receiver, and the No. 7 player in Texas in the On3 Industry Ranking, told Inside Texas he will officially visit Austin June 21-23.

According to On3 director of scouting Charles Power, Lockett “brings elite length (34.5-inch arms at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds) and big-play ability, turning in a 1,299 yard, 13 touchdown junior season.”

Lockett’s ball skills are on display in his tape. He’s fantastic at high-pointing the football and makes a lot of difficult, contested catches. He has fantastic hands and is able to go up and get it in a way many high school receivers can’t.

While he’s a fantastic athlete, Lockett needs to work on his releases and moving efficiently in and out of breaks. Obviously, this is something that trainers and college coaches work meticulously to refine so it’s not a red flag, just an area that needs improvement ahead of playing college football.

Lockett is ranked by On3 as the No. 13 overall prospect, the No. 2 wide receiver, and the No. 4 player in Texas. He measures in at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds.

SMU follows with a 7.1% chance. A slew of teams are next at 5.9%: Arkansas, Texas Tech, Arizona State, and Penn State.

On3 Personal Life File

Sachse coach Mark Behrens says Kaliq Lockett’s ball skills are next level – as in the NFL level, not just high-level college football. “His ball skills are just unbelievable,” Behrens told Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. “He’s always working to improve on them. He played early on for us, and in his junior year he just expanded into unbelievable situations. Any time we needed something big, we tried to get it to him. And then he would go make the play.” That would be an understatement. As a high school junior, Lockett collected 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns. “His 6-foot-7 catch radius is unlike anything I’ve seen,” Behrens said. “He is known for his knack of high pointing the ball and we know he’s going to go up and get football over that defender.”
