ITYT: Five-star receiver Jaime Ffrench discusses potential opportunity at Texas

The Inside Texas team is in Nashville, Tennessee, this week to attend the 2024 On3 Elite Series, which features more than forty of the country’s top prospects for the 2025 recruiting class. We met with some of the key targets for Texas’s upcoming recruiting cycle today, including five star Mandarin (Fla.) receiver Jaime Ffrench.

Ffrench committed to Alabama last July before reopening his recruitment this January after the retirement of Nick Saban. Texas’ strong recruiting efforts since have paid off as Ffrench has selected UT, along with competitors LSU, Miami, and Tennessee for his four official visits in June. He has also flirted with Ohio State and is considering an OV to Columbus this fall.

Ffrench cited the strong, early relationships with coaches as the principal appeal for LSU, Tennessee, and Miami. In contrast, he expressed that Texas’ hospitality to him and his family has been the main outstanding factor in his recruitment. This is important to note because Ffrench says that his family, especially his mother, is very opinionated about and involved in his next steps. In fact, he stated that he may choose August 30th as his commitment date since it’s his mom’s birthday. While Ffrench did not explicitly name Texas receivers coach Chris Jackson as a driving force in this recruitment, this shouldn’t be of much concern since Jackson has proven his ability to recruit effectively during his short tenure at Texas.

Texas’ main sales pitch to Ffrench is: 1) he has the opportunity to “be a part of something special” with Arch Manning as the heir apparent to the quarterback position in 2025 and 2) he will be coached under Steve Sarkisian, who has produced elite results at the college level. Ffrench claims that NIL is not playing any significant role in his recruitment, and he intends to find the school that is the best fit for him before considering any financial package offered. As it stands, Texas is favored to win this recruitment, per On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, and Ffrench himself has stated that the Horns are in the lead with this one.
