Live updates: Texas battles Iowa State in Big 12 matchup

The Texas Longhorns are set to battle the Iowa State Cyclones in an all-important Big 12 Conference matchup. The Longhorns enter the game 4-2 and 2-1 in the Big 12. The Cyclones are 3-3, but are 0-3 in conference games

The game will begin at 11 a.m. and be televised by ABC. Follow along for updates.

Fourth quarter

A RPO nets another first down, but faces a third and short. The Cyclones get it on the ground. A second down run results in a loss of yards, setting up a third and 13. The Cyclones convert. A few plays later on third and nine, Dekkers runs it in for the score. 21-17 ISU 10:58

Texas starts on the 25. Two Robinson runs puts Texas near the 50. Johnson gets in on the action and takes it to the 42. Johnson takes it inside the 30 on another rush. Facing a third down, a screen to Robinson gets the Longhorns inside the 15. Johnson makes it first and goal. Prior to a fourth and goal, Texas calls a timeout. Ewers throws it to Worthy for the score. 24-21 4:43

ISU starts on the 25. A couple plays later and ISU faces a third down. Dekkers completes a pass but is held short. On fourth down, Dekkers completes a pass for the first. A total coverage bust results in Hutchinson getting free downfield but he drops it. On third and 10, ISU moves to the Longhorn 32. Dekkers runs but fumbles. Texas recovers.

Robinson runs for a few yards and ISU calls a timeout. Robinson gets close to the sticks. Timeout Iowa State. Johnson fights for a few yards and gets the first down.

24-21 Texas

Third quarter

Texas starts on its own 12 after a penalty. Two Robinson rushes and a deep pass to Worthy moves the Longhorns to the 38. Then, Johnson rushes for a first down in ISU territory. More rushing moves Texas into the red zone. Facing third and long, Ewers looks for Worthy but the pass is incomplete. Bert Auburn hits a 30-yarder. 17-7 Texas 10:07

ISU begins the drive with two incompletions but picks up the first through the air. ISU then moves into Texas territory with a long pass to Hutchinson. A sack from Moro Ojomo makes it third and very long. A meager gain falls short of the sticks. ISU’s field goal attempt is… no good.

The Longhorns go three and out on the following possession.

Dekkers then finds Noel over the middle for a 54-yard score. 17-14 Texas 4:27

A quick pass from Ewers to Worthy starts the Longhorn drive with a first down. Two Robinson rushes make it third and short, and Robinson picks it up on the ground. Cain drops a wide open pass, Ewers throws it away, and on third down Ewers overthrows Milton, forcing the Longhorns to punt again.

ISU quickly faces a third down and long, but ISU converts with a long pass over the middle as the quarter ends.

17-14 Texas

Second quarter

Action returns with the Longhorns on their own 46. The Longhorns then face a fourth down opportunity, and a deep pass to Casey Cain falls incomplete. ISU takes over.

The Cyclones then quickly move into Longhorn territory thanks to a handful of passes. However, the Longhorn defense creates another third down opportunity, but it’s successful thanks to a Texas penalty. A quick screen to Hutchinson puts ISU inside the 10. Jaylan Ford records an interception.

Texas gets a first down and gets a lot of help with a roughing the passer penalty to move to midfield. A quick screen to Jordan Whittington moves Texas to the 25. Robinson runs for a first down, then Ewers finds Worthy in the end zone. 7-7 5:48

ISU starts on the 15. Two incompletions quickly make it third and long, but Dekkers finds a receiver for the first. The Longhorns force another third and long, and ISU nets a completion but falls short of the first and will punt.

Robinson picks up 25 yards on the first play of the drive for Texas. A quick pass to Sanders and Robinson nets the first. Another run by Robinson gets a first as the clock is ticking down. Ewers then finds Robinson over the middle to move inside the 10. Ewers then finds Whittington over the middle for a score. 14-7 Texas 0:13

ISU runs one play then heads to halftime.

14-0 Texas

First quarter

Captains are Moro Ojomo, Jake Majors, Keilan Robinson, and Jerrin Thompson.

Texas wins the toss and defers.

ISU starts on the 25. A short Hunter Dekkers run, a false start, and two more snaps don’t get the Cyclones much closer to the line to gain. ISU punts and it’s blocked by Keilan Robinson. Texas starts on the 21.

Bijan Robinson can’t gain any yardage on first down, and an incompletion puts it at third and long. A quick pass to Xavier Worthy doesn’t gain any yards. Bert Auburn misses a field goal and ISU takes over on the 21.

ISU gains nine yards but can’t reach the line to gain on their ensuing possession. Matt Campbell throws the punt team back on the field. Texas will take over on its own 41.

The first play of the drive is a 24-yard pass from Quinn Ewers to Xavier Worthy to move into Cyclone territory. Texas then looks like it moves into the red zone but a holding penalty backs them up. Several negative plays in a row backs Texas up to a third and forever, and Daniel Trejo has to punt.

Cyclones take over on their 16, and a completion moves them to the 32. Another completion moves ISU into Texas territory, as does another as the Cyclones attack the middle of the field. On third and long, Dekkers finds a receiver at the sticks for a first down. Facing another third down, ISU draws the Longhorns offsides to make it first and goal. Jaylin Noel then catches a five yard pass for a score. 7-0 ISU 0:57

Texas starts on the 27. A run by Robinson and a pass to Ja’Tavion Sanders moves Texas into ISU territory. They exit ISU territory after a pass is caught by Robinson well behind the line of scrimmage.
