Texas adds German power forward Declan Duru to the 2025-26 roster

Sean Miller‘s international connections have paid off twice now. German power forward Declan Duru, who most recently played for Real Madrid and was a major contributor for Germany in the recent FIBA U19 World Cup, told ESPN that he has committed to Texas.

Duru made seven apperances in 2024-25 for Real Madrid’s U19 team, averaging 12.0 ppg and 5.4 rpg. He also played 17 games for Real Madrid B in the third division of Spanish Basketball, posting six double-digit scoring efforts.

At the recent U19 World Cup, Duru averaged 11.4 points and 5.1 rebounds on 52.4% shooting, with a 36.4% effort from three and a 66.7% mark at the line. Duru was 14-for-20 from inside the arc.

He joins Lewis Obiorah as international additions to the 2025-26 Texas Longhorns roster. Duru was ranked as On3’s No. 87 overall prospect and No. 19 power forward in the 2025 class. With his addition, Texas’ high school/freshman class of Duru, John Clark, and Lewis Obiorah sits at No. 70 in the Rivals Recruiting Rankings.
