Texas Longhorns odds to make a run as a No. 2 seed
The Texas Longhorns are the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Rodney Terry’s team will take the court on Thursday, March 16 at 6:25 p.m. Central on TBS taking on No. 15 seed Colgate (26-8).
The 2022-23 Longhorns (26-8) will be looking to be the third straight Texas team to be a No. 2 seed and advance to the Elite Eight. The 2005-06 Texas Longhorns (30-7) lost to No. 10 seed LSU 70-60 in overtime, while the Longhorns (31-7) 2007-08 team lost to No. 1 seed Memphis 85-67 in the Elite Eight in Houston.
It’s been 14 years since the Longhorns have appeared in an Elite Eight, or Sweet 16 for that matter. When Texas last made a deep tournament run, No. 2 seeds were not on upset alert in the Round of 64. That has changed in the last ten NCAA Tournaments.

From 2002 to 2011, No. 2 seeds didn’t lose in the First Round. In the ten tournaments since that time, six No. 2 seeds have lost in the Round of 64.
