The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder has been committed to the Badgers for over five months, but has taken a more open stance on his recruitment since Wisconsin parted ways with Paul Chryst. Michigan has hosted Pierce this season following an offer October 22. The Wolverines have gained traction in Pierce’s recruitment to the point of being considered the current favorite.

Texas joins Michigan, Auburn and Michigan State in offering the quick and physical defensive tackle in the last three weeks.

Longhorns defensive line coach Bo Davis made the offer to Pierce. The next step is Texas working to get the Chicago area prospect on campus.

“Most definitely I plan to visit,” Pierce told IT Wednesday morning. “I mean, it’s Texas!”

Pierce originally committed to Wisconsin May 19, 2022 over Iowa State, Minnesota, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Syracuse, Purdue and Duke. Pierce made an official visit to Wisconsin June 10.
