Texas RB Rickey Stewart expected to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Texas running back Rickey Stewart is expected to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, sources tell Inside Texas.
The Tyler (Texas) Chapel Hill product committed to the Longhorns last Spring and enrolled early in Austin in January. After going through Spring ball, Stewart suffered an injury during Fall camp that would limit him throughout the season.
He pledged to former RB coach Tashard Choice, who left for the Detroit Lions a month into 2025.
“It was really exciting being here today, a real experience I’ve never felt before,” Stewart told Inside Texas after the visit. “I was too happy when I got the offer. Coach Sark and Coach Choice, they are great coaches. Two coaches that I’m building a real bond with. I’m learning more than just football, but being a great person.”
The 5-foot-10, 195-pounder was a four-star prospect according to ESPN, On3 and Rivals, No. 23 running back recruit in the country according to ESPN’s rankings, and listed as the No. 32 running back prospect nationally and No. 49 overall recruit in Texas by On3.
