It’s hard to complain if you’re a Longhorn fan right now.

That’s because Texas is absolutely rolling, both on the field and on the recruiting trail.

The Horns are 4-0 to start a season for the first time since 2012. And Texas is now ranked No. 11 nationally in recruiting with multiple five-star recruits still on the board.

So it’s not only the present that is looking bright for Texas, but the future, too.

Perhaps that’s why this moment in time as a Texas football fan feels differently than much of the recent past. It feels not only satisfying, but also more like an inflection point.

Why?

Because not only is Texas winning games, but they’re also winning important recruiting battles. And as longtime Texas observers know, doing both of those things successfully simultaneously is what leads to a sustainable high-achieving program.

And that’s what Texas fans want. Not a one-hit wonder. We’ve had those. The feeling is just too fleeting.

Instead, Texas wants to be good every single year. That’s the current path Texas is on.

But, here’s a reminder. The Horns have to stay on that path, one game at a time, and one recruit at a time, because that path can be disrupted at any time.

Next up are the Jayhawks.
