The Chris Del Conte annual town hall was ripe with information last night.

Del Conte said a new football indoor practice facility, one closer to the stadium, was priority from an infrastructure standpoint.

He also mentioned several improvements to DKR, including increased concessions and LED lighting, which should be immensely popular.

Del Conte was also understandably proud of the athletic department and its accomplishments on the field of play. The University and its athletes are the two-time reigning champs of the Directors’ Cup.

In sum, the town hall was vintage Del Conte.

His answers weren’t always what fans wanted to hear. He even rambled sometimes.

But there he was last night, the only person on the screen, answering a multitude of questions for fans the best he could. And he did it in a way that is easy to relate to. You got the real sense that he and his staff are doing their level best every day to make Texas a better place for the students and the fans, which is all any Texas fan can really ask for or want.

Score one for CDC.

One thing CDC made sure to mention was NIL. It’s a hot button topic across the country for athletic directors.

He specifically called out the Texas One Fund and its impact on Texas sports.

As a reminder, there is a fundraiser tonight in Houston that Sark and CDC will be attending.

It’s from 4-7 p.m. at the Houston Country Club.

Please join about 100 other Longhorns if you have the opportunity. It should be a fun event. The link to register is here.

I talked with Justin Wells in-depth yesterday about the QB position prior to spring practice. Today, I’m talking with Joe Cook about the RBs.

As I’m preparing for these talks and going through them, I can tell you I’m finding some things very interesting.

Like how it’s just incredibly rare for Texas to be so well stocked at QB, even if they are young at the position.

The Horns have two guys that I would term “one-ones”. That means first pick, first round. Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning were those guys coming out of high school and there’s no reason to expect any less when they’re in Austin.

The only places with a QB pipeline as good might be in Columbus, Ohio, or over at USC. That’s rarefied company.
