Notre Dame cornerback Chance Tucker plans to enter NCAA transfer portal
Fifth-year Notre Dame cornerback Chance Tucker plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos. Tucker’s impact has been relatively muted in his days with the Fighting Irish.
After playing in one game during the 2022 season, Tucker saw much more time in 2023. He appeared in nine games, logging three tackles.
That would be Chance Tucker’s lone statistical contributions to date, even though he appeared in four games this season for Notre Dame. In total, he has appeared in 14 games in college.
Tucker had two seasons at Notre Dame in which he failed to record an appearance. He did not play as a true freshman in 2021, taking a redshirt. Then he did not play in 2024 after suffering a season-ending injury.
Prior to enrolling at Notre Dame, Chance Tucker was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 329 overall recruit in the 2021 recruiting class. He was also ranked as the No. 51 receiver in his class, as well as the No. 28 overall player in the state of California, hailing from Encino (CA) Crespi.

Chance Tucker not the only expected departure
As the transfer portal cycle heats up ahead of the Jan. 2 opening of the portal, multiple players have made their intentions clear. Chance Tucker isn’t the only player set to leave Notre Dame.
Notre Dame quarterback Anthony Rezac also plans to enter the transfer portal, On3 has learned. He spent two years with the program.
As a member of the Class of 2024, Rezac was not ranked, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He played his high school football in Omaha (Neb.) Westside. He enrolled at Notre Dame early.
He’ll look elsewhere to continue his collegiate career. Rezac did not appear in any games for the Fighting Irish in 2024 or ’25.
On3’s Nick Kosko also contributed to this report.
