Folkstyle also needs to consider adding a step out rule. With 3 point takedowns, the 3rd period of every match is strictly the guy with the lead hanging at the edge of the circle and any danger just step out to where you can’t get scored on. All stepouts should be a point just like in free style. Maybe treat them as stalls. Not sure what’s better but something needs to be done.

Anyone else in the world except this ref see a stall there on Taylor?
Refs have been pretty bad. That's not a stall. Shame on replay for upholding that call. Didn't matter anyway as Taylor couldn't score and Robideau is a great counter wrestler like Vega. It's a shame they don't call stalling more on the wrestlers that aren't attacking and just waiting to counter. Poor sportsmanship by Taylor.

Lol..not bitching or crying like all you big babies...the team sucked this weekend ...does crying about it all day gonna change anything lol ..I think not ...you all want PSU results but guess what ..we ain't Penn State or any of the top ten and never will be ...get over it and if you don't like what's being presented then don't come anymore instead of whining like little girls
We will never be Penn state but if you’re happy with the current results you’re retarded.

Nowhere did I say I was happy about it but unlike most of you I didn't spend 2 days crying like girls wanting a guy to lose his job because you want second tier recruits to perform like top 5 guys ...it's never gonna happen ..it takes top money and tradition to draw those guys which we don't have either but if crying all two days about it fulfills you all then have at it

No one's asking for psu results but just being a Wyoming would be a nice start. They don't have much in the way of resources or facilities yet had a 4th, 7th and 8th. When's the last time we had something like that?

I think the gripes here are reasonable other than the calls for firing Goodale. I don’t care about the standings, but having 0 AA’s in 3 of the last 4 years is an issue.

Agreed. What I find funny. Is we have one of the top 5 facilities in the country. We have a top match day atmosphere. Top 5 fan support attendance. And from what was posted in this thread earlier (not sure if true) top 10 support of program. Not sure how to think the results from this past weekend or the previous 3 years would garner anything but this type of response from fans.

I think the problem is a lot of people are underestimating how hard it is to land a highly accomplished coach, in any sport. Rutgers has a lot of advantages, but there’s also a lot of built in disadvantages. The campus structure isn’t ideal, the weather sucks during the school months, taxes are astronomical, and we’re in a geographical area that where the population doesn’t prioritize college sports though that doesn’t really apply to wrestling. I don’t think it’s as simple as wanting a great coach, drawing up a contract, and having it happen. There’s a reason the football team had to circle back to Schiano.

Don’t blame him for doing it but the last 20 seconds of that McEnelly performance is enough for me to believe they have to go back to 2 point takedowns.

Since the dual meets mean nothing I think we should do away with them and go right to the Big Tens and NCAAs

Funny nobody said squat about Taylor throwing the ankle bands at Robideau chest. If that wasn’t Nebraska JB would have been all over it.

Not saying it’s easy. And I’m not calling for Goodys head. He needs to shake up the staff. Can’t keep making the same mistakes and using the same script. But the infrastructure is here. The fanbase is here.
Not sure what the campus structure has to do with it. Our athletes spend very little time away from Livingston or Busch. It’s not like they’re fighting for space on a bus looking to get from cook to Busch. Our weather is comparable to every school we compete against except for maybe ASU or Stanford. Tell me how Minnesota, Michigan Indiana Ohio, Pennsylvania winters are better than ours? The reason we circled back to Schiano was because certain people that wrote the checks his first go around fell for his story the second time as well. There were more than a couple willing candidates.

OKST wrestlers aren't shooting and just counters and stalling.

Barr is a 22 yo redshirt sophomore. More ridiculous holdbacks and/or greyshirts. NCAA needs an age limit. Cutoff should be 23, absent a medical redshirt. These old guys are taking away opportunities from younger guys.

Vega is a joke. I’ve watched enough of his matches and he’s a defensive specialist. Another clinic on stalling against Mendez.

Well I somewhat agree, we should not be wrestling Centenary, Gardner-Webb, Bloomsburg, Davidson, Drexel and Hofstra. These do nothing except be stat padders.

Turley was like a 20 year old freshman and wrestled here for like 7 years lol Ashnault was pretty close to 24 when he won, what young guy was he stealing opportunities from 😂.

and a bunch of grown men dunking on Van Ness for only taking 2nd while our program hasn’t had an AA in 2 years but yea sure he ll definitely want to leave Penn state and come here 🙄. Guy is 3,3,2 he’d be the 2nd or 3rd best Rutgers wrestler ever and yall cheering that he lost

I think you're being a little touchy on the situation. My post was more in jest as Cael is viewed as infallible and @RUMike is right, coming out of high school he was viewed as a multiple time NCAA Champ.

I wonder if Rod is questioning his allegiance to Cael. Next year will be Shayne’s sixth year at PSU and still no NC for a guy who was supposed to win multiple.
Well it's too late at this point. He's too loyal to Cael. The fact that Rodney and his son turned their back on his father's alma mater does not sit well with me. We got bigger fish to fry with our coaching situation and incoming recruits. Penn State can keep shayne.

Ashnault was 23 as a 6th year, so he was fine with a medical redshirt. No one is dunking on SVN but nice try to create controversy.

Yeah Shayne wrestled at the SKWC as a kid, dad was an alum, and then gave us no consideration. Glad he lost

BS 2 stall calls on McGowan. Lilledahl hasn't taken a shot! These refs suck.
BS stall calls? He ran away for 6 and half minutes and never took a shot. He just grabbed fingers and was actively slowing down the match, the ref verbally warned him like 5 times. That was almost as pathetic as when he got DQed for stalling last time against Lilidahl. McGowan is a tough watch he wrestles like Ferrari

MAM should have come out firing after the embarrassing loss he took stalling out. Lilledahl wasn’t doing a lot but MAM was hugging the out of bounds most of match

Lilledahl took 0 shots. McGowan didn't run. Funny when PSU or OKST is defensive and no one blinks.
