Ann Coulter: Soccer the most boring sport ever

It's even more boring than baseball which is more boring than watching grass grow. Ann Coulter said about the sport as being anti American today. With that said it's obvious it's a liberal sport for the left.

Coulter: Any growing interest in soccer a sign of nation's moral decay

6/25/2014

Any growing interest in soccer can only be a sign of the nation's moral decay.

Individual achievement is not a big factor in soccer. In a real sport, players fumble passes, throw bricks and drop fly balls — all in front of a crowd. When baseball players strike out, they're standing alone at the plate. But there's also individual glory in home runs, touchdowns and slam-dunks.

In soccer, the blame is dispersed and almost no one scores anyway. There are no heroes, no losers, no accountability, and no child's fragile self-esteem is bruised. There's a reason perpetually alarmed women are called "soccer moms," not "football moms."

Liberal moms like soccer because it's a sport in which athletic talent finds so little expression that girls can play with boys. No serious sport is co-ed, even at the kindergarten level.

You can't use your hands in soccer. (Thus eliminating the danger of having to catch a fly ball.) What sets man apart from the lesser beasts, besides a soul, is that we have opposable thumbs. Our hands can hold things. Here's a great idea: Let's create a game where you're not allowed to use them!

Baseball and basketball present a constant threat of personal disgrace. In hockey, there are three or four fights a game — and it's not a stroll on beach to be on ice with a puck flying around at 100 miles per hour. After a football game, ambulances carry off the wounded. After a soccer game, every player gets a ribbon and a juice box.

The number of New York Times articles claiming soccer is "catching on" is exceeded only by the ones pretending women's basketball is fascinating.

I note that we don't have to be endlessly told how exciting football is.

I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer. One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time.

I was talking to some soccer dudes at lunch today, and I am not a fan of the sport.
Make the game interesting and more people would watch. Including me. For instance, instead of issuing a yellow card for a foul, just let the guy that got fouled either get a free shot at him, or let him gain some super-power like use of his hands the rest of the game. Yep I'd watch every game if they would just spice it up.

The world must be boring then because more people watch soccer around the world than any other sport.

Ann Coulter is pretty clueless here.

She is forgetting the other reason for the growth in the sport.
Europeans particularly British living here in the US. I can go to any major city in the US and have a soccer game in England become a community event
Americans travelling to Europe and seeing how the game is supported is important as well.

The other half is immigration...
But they aren't the only people who support the sport

Ann Coulter is a boring whiner who tries to make money with diatribes to stir people up. Regardless, soccer is boring. I took my son to a pro soccer game once and it ended in a 0-0 tie. What sport other than that ends in a scoreless tie? What a joke. The team that’s winning fakes injuries and lay on the ground while the clock runs to waste time. And you never know when the match will end because they arbitrarily add extra time at the end.

Soccer might not be one of the most popular spectator sports in the usa but it is one of the most played sports in the country especially amongst elementary and middle school kids. Pretty much everywhere you go there are youth soccer rec leagues. Anyone who thinks a sport has led to the moral decline of the country is an ignoramus. Anyone who would read this garbage and agree with it is as well.

The world can have it, It's boring and sucks balls. Elementary school kids are being forced to play soccer by liberal mothers known as evil Soccer moms. Do you not see the moral decline in this nation? Are you blind?

What do those youth do when they grow up? They play football, baseball and basketball. Soccer is nothing more than an activity.

Quit with the 12 year old name calling. You're nothing more than someone who trolls the boards looking for fights.

Have to give Townes some credit here. At least he's consistent across his three dozen or so profiles, in being a left wing nutcase.

A lot of local kids in my area are playing, several leagues, indoor/outdoor, travel, club, ect....like most youth sports, virtually none are any good but their parents all think they are future pros with a full college scholarship waiting for them....

From my observation, its becoming a vanity sport. Parents spending cash to travel out of town each weekend, camps "they just must attend", and private coaches.

This goes for other youth sports, not just soccer, but soccer is the lead offender.

I never played and find the sport brutal to watch, but it's not my business to tell others what they can like.

Not targeting soccer, but youth sports in general right now is pretty toxic.

I know this sounds sanctimonious but if we pushed kids in school as much as we do in youth sports, I think we'd be better off...or diverting some of that time to learning a skill at a young age (computer programming, whatever), they'd benefit more.

The year around leagues, travel teams, ect, arent good for kids, imo.

I see a ton of young kids heavily invested in a sport who quite frankly, arent very talented and never will be.

Our school district had to merge 3 middle schools to form 1 soccer team (not consolidate actual schools, just the teams) because most players were on club teams and didn't have time to play for school...that seems sad. I cant imagine growing up and not wanting to play for your school.

🤣

I didn't really know much about the game until the 1986 World Cup.
I was stationed at Okinawa. People in Japan took the World Cup serious.
Have seen the game grow since then in the United States.

Another thing that people forget in the US Military in Germany.

****...Both my son's were actually born in Japan on US land.

Every Sport is exciting and every sport is boring to a certain point of view. Soccer is not contributing to the moral decline of America. You're the one who is hurling insults on here.

BTW do you know why Cricket is the worlds 2nd most popular game? Its because its the top game in India and India isn't in Europe you fool. Shows what you know.

Adults, yes.

There isn't much Youth Tennis.

My daughter grew up playing competitive tennis.
It was a no brainer. Only professional sport that women get paid around the same as the men. Most events it is exactly the same.

But...
Youth tennis regardless of the sex sucks.
It is almost a full time job as young as 8 or 9.

I see why children wouldn't want to play.

?

If you are going to put the time and effort into becoming professional athlete as a female it should be tennis.

Youth tennis has a lot of people involved but as you get older it declines.

The time and effort someone has to put into the game.
My daughter found other hobbies.

Well if you're talking about the whole world soccer is easily the most played sport. More adults probably play golf more than soccer in the USA but im not sure about Tennis. Adult soccer rec leagues are pretty common in this country. I have seen quite a few tennis rec leagues as well. Sports participation changes with age. Quite a few grade school boys have participated in youth rec baseball leagues at one time or another but adult rec Baseball leagues are not that common. Adult rec softball leagues are common but guys didn't grow up playing it. The advantage that soccer and Basketball have is they are relatively cheap and easy to play. The only overhead you really have is cleats shin pads and uniform which is mostly a T shirt. Playing real Football is expensive. At the rate that kids grow between the ages of 5 and 13 you could be shelling out money every year for new pads helmets. Its probably one of the reasons why you don't see as many rec leagues and why football isn't that popular anywhere else in the world.

Nobody gives a crap what the worlds view is in sports. This is America and in America we watch football, baseball and basketball. Soccer is a distant 5th and sometimes lower. Have been hearing about this so called great soccer take over since the mid 80's and it has never been close to being so.

JV if you love the foreign land and soccer so much save us all and leave the country.

I live in an international city...
So there are people here who care about the sport
That's why they're rated 5th and sometimes freaking lower. Just because you have a Million Mexicans living in Texas doesn't mean it's enough to push soccer to the top. Once again soccer sucks and is boring.

Mexicans live in most US cities these days as do Europeans. NBC wouldn't be broadcasting British premier league games if no one was watching. There are very few countries in the world were soccer isn't number 1. Only an ignoramus like you wouldn't understand. Whether you like a sport or not is your own personal preference. Every sport is boring and exciting.

And still they can't climb in ratings as most watched sports. Only someone with multi's would talk like a child and forget which profile they were using.

Who cares what the ratings are. Anyone who would post a look at me article that is 7 years old from a blow hard is an idiot to begin with.

BTW I noticed you mentioned golf as a highly watched sport why don't you log in under your Greg Jacobs account.
