This reminds me of the really old days.

SHU was so financially poor that they depended on financial contributions from the Booster Club, led in the days by Ray Lopez, RIP. The summer of Mark Bryant's senior season the team and the Booster Club had a softball game behind South Mountain Arena. It was the first function I ever attended and I knew only 1 person in the club. Because of that I started in right field and batted last.

When I got up to bat, Bryant, who was catching said to me make sure you don't throw the bat. Bad enough I got no respect from the Club, but from the players too!!!! :p:oops::cool:

You would have been surprised how bad most of the player were on the diamond. In fact the only standout I remember was James Major.

By the end of the game I was playing centerfield and he hit a shot in the trees over my head for a HR. The ball was hit so far I never even moved. Just turned my head to watch where it landed.

Danny learned his lesson after last year. That's a tougher version of an old Jim Boeheim schedule.
Now that is a great schedule Good competition and lots of revenue-producing games. 2 big-time Home games. A big-time home and home away game @ Kansas. And 3 local Neutral site games in NYC and Boston that will be packed, quasi-home games for them.

We aren't nearly in UConn's class but we have to do better using our schedule to save money and create additional revenues. Other than the Rutgers game and the KState home/home, the rest of the schedule is terrible.

Agreed. And with the Big East not strong top to bottom UConn is smart to schedule strong OOC games.

We need to re-establish some semblance of relevance to even consider doing any of that. It took Willard years to establish that and it looks as if will take Holloway at least that long to get back to that point.

Unfortunately, we no longer have the Gavitt Games or the Big 12 series to help prop up the schedule.
