I turned this on when I got home and saw the score was interesting. Will be interesting to see if MQ can hang on this last 1:20 as Uconn is cutting back into the lead. But two observations: (1) Nigel James is incredible for a freshman PG. We will see if MQ can hang onto him and (2) the level of abuse and leeway BE officials give Danny Hurley is astounding. I think it is far beyond the Jay Wright treatment at this point.

I think Hurley "bumped" the official there too during his tirade.

One, I cannot believe that Uconn lost this game. They desperately wanted the BE regular season. Shocking. Weird things happen on Senior Day though. Marquette badly outshoots Uconn from 3, plus Nigel James.

Two, Uconn is now my safe prediction to win the BE tournament. They are going to be on an absolute mission and I would be surprised if Danny doesn't have them frothing at the mouth. They've now had one crown stolen in back to back years. They aren't going to let that happen with the BE tournament.

Geez, Karaban was awful! 0/5 from 3 after the 25 foot bombs he made against us to bring them back. Their perimeter has really fallen off late this season. Ceiling for UCONN is Sweet 16. Really bad look for Hurley at the end.

I think Uconn can go further than the Sweet 16. Look at what they did in the OOC. I think their personnel and shooting is tailor-made for the NCAA tournament, and they won't have to worry as much about getting an officiating crew who is going to impact the defensive aspect of the game with a bad whistle.

Par for the course with Hurley. He's a great, great coach who I pull for always for various reasons. But as I've said before, the way he acts on the sidelines is how others wish the more hated BE coaches would act. Anyone else, and we'd have separate threads about it and unhinged posting.

I hope you’re right. I’m a Hurley fan but aside from the SJ home game they have had some really close games against teams well down in the standings as the season has gone on. They just have not looked like a FF team. Maybe its the late February early March grind and Danny gets them pointed back in the right direction.

They've had some meat grinders in the league, no doubt, but I think that is part and parcel of conference play for most everyone. They demolished SJU at home when they needed a statement win against a program that had beaten them 3 in a row and taken some of their mojo. They beat Nova at Nova pretty handily after getting upset by Creighton and giving up 90 points on their floor. They've had a number of other BE blowouts during the regular season -- we just remember the close games a bit more because we aren't Uconn fans. And I think Uconn's OOC was impeccable -- a bunch of great wins against what will be top or solidly seeded teams from power conferences and a close loss to Arizona, who is among the favorites to win the title, playing without 2 starters.

And there's also a lot to be said about going from the round robin of the BE to teams unfamiliar with you.

UConn fans bitched and chided us for complaining about the refs last Saturday. Seems only fair they get a taste of their own medicine.

I'm sure they do that every game they lose, especially to more defensive-minded teams (I've never heard them complain about the refs when Creighton beats them -- and Mac has had lots of success against Hurley compared to others. But it's been a running theme when they've lost to the last two Pitino St John's teams, who defend in a similar manner as us this year).
