Time to right the ship. It’s all still there for this team at 14-5. 4-4 NET 45. Cannot now be taking bad losses. Need to figure out the bad starts to home games too. We’ll see.

Wednesday vs. Xavier (NET 94, 11-8, 3-5)
Saturday vs. Marquette (NET 141 7-13, 2-7)

Need to sweep! Better to be 7-4 than 6-5 with tougher battles on the horizon. I am not optimistic but rooting for them to turn it around.

Really need all three. Said in an earlier post that we elevated play to SJU's level for most of the game. Never would have lost to Butler if they played like that. Now concerned we get the flat less focused team against DePaul. We may see some more Godswill minutes starting with this game. Moment of truth has arrived for Pirate season in next 8 days.

From what I have seen, Godswill is a different player from last year. He seems less athletic after the injury. Hope he can get back in basketball shape and contribute. IMO he is not close to being in the same class as Payne and Hines. Maybe a spot minute contributor to help us would be great but I don't see him playing at the PF position which is where we need help.

We need more from the PF spot and have to hope Clark is feeling better each day. He definitely is not the same player since the injury. And have to hope Parker gets back to form too. We missed his usual contribution in the St Johns game. He can be a difference maker but he seemed lost last game.

And maybe Sha will focus on the offensive side of the ball for once. We can't keep having these 10 minute droughts - well I can hope anyway....

On the offensive side of the ball you have to make shots. Any coach can run an offense but if you can't make open shots and can't make foul shots there is not much else you can do as a coach . Please next year spend as much NIL money you have to get a player who can shoot . I do not care if he can't do anything else .I'm a broken record on this but PLEASE get anybody that can shoot !

IDK if we’ll be able to get through the season without a bad loss (by rankings). It’s unusual for teams like us to pitch a perfecto, so if it’s going to happen at least need to avoid the home gassers to the dregs of the league. At 14-5, we’re 1-2 Q1 and 4-3 Q2. IMO we only have room for 1 bad one from here on out and then we must make it up by winning at either Connecticut or Villanova or upsetting St. John’s at The Rock in the finale. Winning at Creighton isn’t good enough right now although it helps.

Amazingly DePaul is a Q2 opportunity (away, NET #76 through #135). The two following home games are dagger Q3’s.

I don't disagree but as always we seem to go as our PG Clark goes. He had an awful game against St Johns. 2 assists, didn't look like the same guy (injury?), very little penetration, turned the ball over. If he can get our guys good shots it certainly helps and Parker (even though its not his natural position) had a really bad game at the point for us too. Have to give some credit to St Johns D and efforts in the second half.

Shots also fall when we don't have too many guys playing too many minutes especially with Shas approach to all out effort defensively. Sha shortened the bench in the second half and that had something to do with it too. But I've never witnessed one player miss so many shots around the rim as Fisher. He works hard to get those shots but he seems to miss them at a high clip. With Payne, AJ and Simpkins playing much better that should have been a W. The rest of the team failed us as well as our coach IMO. Hoping we learn from it and go on another run.

We just need to play two good halves for a change. Last game was the first time in a while where we played a solid first half & were awful in the second.

Also, lesson learned that you must have a capable backup PG. Just a must for next season. Hines is the key for next season. How about a 5 that can actually hit a shot jump shot for a change?? So work with Hines on developing his versatility next Summer. Anyway, the front court players need to play pissed off and finish plays against DePaul.

That's kind of a skewed way of looking at it. Pitino didn't zone us, Butler did. We're comfortable playing the style we played at MSG. It's easy to play to a higher level when you're playing confident. We're not confident against a zone. If these teams go zone against us don't expect a high level of play.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if we kept Hines. They money will be ridiculous with his ability and upside. But he'd be the building block for sure. Seton Hall has enough money know to produce Bubble teams. It would be nice to finally retain some players. Guys like Williams (JR), Simpkins (SO), Parker (SO), Clark (JR) around Hines are pieces you want to keep together.

Payne, Staton-McCray, Rivera, and Fisher are the ones out of eligibility.

Gotta get today's. DePaul has been better, but their wins are also against Xavier, Georgetown, and Marquette, all at home.. The only lost at Villanova by 5 and at Butler by 7, those are good comps.

They foul almost as much as we do defensively because they over-help and clog the lanes. As a result they have the worst 3PT defense in the league. Their offense is inept too, only better than ours, LOL. They have a turnover problem offensively, which should helps us offensively.
