Fingerprints all over the team that just had a great tournament beating WIS and giving Arkansas all they could handle (and not looking out of place in either of those games for a second).

Mac is a loss for the league because he's one of the better coaches and whenever you lose a good coach it can be a problem for a school. But the whole point of the Huss hire last offseason was because this was going to happen sooner than later, so Creighton is well-positioned it seems.

I know I got angry at Creighton stealing a loss from us cause we choked I always respect them even if I can’t stand them always beating us and playing better basketball even if I believe we have had better talent many times over them.

I actually like Doug and remember his passionate locker room speech after they lose to sdsu in the elite eight. It actually would’ve been big if they won that game in 2023 cause that could’ve helped perception of the big east in recent years.

They play great basketball so this is tough and thought he could’ve kept coaching them into a constant threat like they always have been.

I hope they keep being competitive cause they both rose with us from 2016-2022 to keep big east respectable.

Class act and excellent coach IMO. The BE will certainly miss him. He made taking Creighton into the BE a huge success. The guy is a winner and his offenses were fun to watch for any real basketball fan even if it was against us. If Willard or Sha had half the coaching ability on the offensive side of the ball as McDermott, we would have had lots more wins. Big loss to the league. Give Creighton credit - they had a solid succession plan and executed it, which is the sign of a very well run program.

Alan Huss is a promising young coach who has big shoes to fill.

Mac always had well-coached teams with efficient offense highlighted by quick, crisp ball movement. Won 20 games in 14 of his 16 years at Creighton.

At his best from 2020-2025. Was 82-35 in the Big East those 6 years and won at least 1 NCAAT game 5 years in a row including 3 S16s and 1 E8. Maybe his best team (likely 2 or 3 seed) lost their NCAAT opportunity due to Covid in 2020. Had some great teams but never broke through to a Final 4.

He'll be missed.
