C’mon. Nova and Gtown would leave for the ACC in a heartbeat. The women are mid majors. The men are not.
Tell UConn to go to hell. They want to be treated like the Notre Dame of the BB world.

We have been rated 4-5 most every year with the ACC. No other league is close. That is not a mid major.
And for now where is UConn going? They will eventually leave whether we give them their way or not. You do not cater in this fashion to one team.
Of course we had to take UConn. Look what they did for the Big East. But we all knew it would be a matter of time before they would leave given the chance.Hey I said this when they joined the BE and was told on here, including you I believe, told me that you had to take UConn. So now here we are
Last year the BE got 5 teams in this year the BE will get 4 maybe 5 teams in in NCAAT. Take UConn out and we are getting 3-4 bids. Basically a strong mid major. A-10, AAC, WCC level league.
Just look at Lunardis bracketology.... 11, 9, 8, 8 for the P4, then the BE with 4, then the A-10 and WCC with 2. The BE is a mid major.

Absolutely no one but you is calling men's BB a mid major.
Not so much the tidy round robin but many teams need the 2 extra league games now. Seton Hall has a hard enough time putting together a quality OOC schedule. Can't afford to drop 2 quality opponents and a revenue home game unless the league can guarantee a challenge vs a P4 conference or an agreement with some revenue-generating tournaments.Everyone would leave for money if they could. But UConn is the only one with a realistic chance. You do not throw away your round robin to suit one team.
We aren't a P4 but no one of any credibility calls the BE a mid-major. The P4s have all the power and make all of the rules yet they can't shake the fact that the BE has been a top 4 league almost every year.In 5 years we will look back and see who is right. I've been right about the CBB landscape more often than not, and more often than most on this board, since the NIL and no-sit out rules started to change.
And a lot of people call the BE a mid major. They just do it through exclusion. Are we part of the "Power 4" that almost all writers use to describe the 4 major fb/bb conferences? They say the "P4 and the BE" to make us feel good about ourselves. But we are excluded from being considered a "power conference".
It's okay to be the WCC from 2012....

We may eventually fall to mid-major status as money continues to drive the sport but it hasn't happened yet.
There's no question that UConn is vital to the BE remaining a relevant top 5 league every year. Doesn't mean we should cater to their every whim. They will leave the BE when a proper solution can be worked out for their football program. They won't leave just because we don't reduce our conference schedule. If we didn't have UConn the past handful of years, what would our conference of achieved? That's your answer right there. And UConn knows it's. They have all the power, we are a mid major without them. And we catered the UConn by bringing them back into the BE and saving their program from death. We either continue to cater to them, or they leave and the BE fades.
And if you want to argue that we are not considered and power conference but we are not a mid major and we are a league in a state of constant purgatory, okay.
That’s the problem with the term. There’s no real definition for it. It’s however one prefers to interpret it. Your criteria seems to be based on NCAA bids.Hey I said this when they joined the BE and was told on here, including you I believe, told me that you had to take UConn. So now here we are

Not that this disputes what your point is, those leagues also have 18, 18, 16, and 16 schools, vs 11 for the BE. They are still getting a higher % of schools in than us, but looks closer in this contextHey I said this when they joined the BE and was told on here, including you I believe, told me that you had to take UConn. Biggest problem is it will be hard to find "quality" wins in conference...and there will be a lot of "Bad" losses to avoid, especially at historically tough places to play, ie Creighton, Marquette, even if they do have down years. The problem with the BE right now is the places with money and resources aren't doing anything with them. We'll see what happens by March but you'll be lucky to get 4 BE teams in this year based on what we've seen so far. And who would they be?
Connecticut, St. John's and...? Seton Hall and Butler are the only two that have actually achieved anything this non-conference season. Marquette and Creighton have been a disaster, Xavier has done more. Villanova has beaten nobody despite Willard knowing how to pack the NET. Georgetown at least has a good win. Providence, and DePaul? Nothing.
The BE is not a P4 league because it gordn’t have football. Shay’s do hard to understand about that. When it comes to hoops, we are a power leagues. Neck and Neck we out the ACC and waaay ahead of the American, MW and A10. And yes, UCONN is a extremely important. In 5 years we will look back and see who is right.
