I thought y'all were gonna win it in 98, I remember being there when bubba ran all over Kannapolis. I had a cousin on that team and played against all those guys, and played aau basketball with a couple km guys. I expect a slobber knocker ball game, should be a good one.
I did too but that Carver team we faced was loaded with D1 prospects. Sometimes people forgot that certain opponents have dudes also. Through the years I thought we have definitely had opportunities. That 96 KM was absolutely loaded but was caught looking ahead to Hickory instead of focusing on the task at hand. 2019,2020, were really good opportunities for us. 2018 Catholic was just better. 2017 still stings because we definitely had a shot that year. 2015 we had a bad game plan in my opinion against your Raiders and paid for it. We have been banging on the door for awhile.
My favorite SP team that I watched was the 2003 team. Those guys were some straight killers. When they got you down it was almost like sharks feeding with blood in the water. Brandon Reid was one the best all around football players I’ve ever seen. This dude literally made almost every tackle on kickoff coverage for SP. I lined up against some good SP teams myself back in the day. Coach Biggerstaff was the SP coach then. I can remember me and my boys on D getting after Willie Strain from SP. That dude was a grown man running the ball. Look him up. We would try to knock him out of the game but he would keep coming back at us like the terminator lol.
One thing we do not take for granted is the network of coaches at South Point with a gazillion years of experience. We know SP will be ready to play with a good game plan and with expectations to win the game. I expect a battle.

Willie would score a touchdown then run to the sideline to change his right cleat and then go kick the pat!

No joke, Willie Strain was my first hero. First jersey I ever got was a #43 Strain jersey when I was about 7. He was a grown man.

The KM fullback everyone remembers and talks about is Kevin Mack. That dude would break into the defensive backfield and instead of going to the goal line he would look for the closest db and just bulldoze him and then go score. Talk about a man playing a boys game.

Nah, but we are old enough to recognize long term success when we see it. The only school to have an overall winning record against SP with more than three games played is Shelby, if I’m not mistaken. That dates back to 1969. So bring it on. SP might not win all of em, but we’ll win most of em. GO BIG RED !

35-28 SP wins the game and the Big South title
Buck Creep,
I am so glad you picked against KM, it fits you M.O., and you are consistently wrong when it comes to the Mountaineers. You the same dude that picked KM to be the 4th best team in the Cleveland County earlier this year and thought we stood no chance against Shelby nor Burns. Somebody from KM must have taken your girl back in the day and you still mad. Keep enjoying those glue sandwiches the Mountaineers keep serving you lol…..

How is South Point on defense. I know they have a great offense.
Pretty solid all around on defense. Got a couple good sized lineman and 2 pretty good linebackers. We usually play 4 seniors in the secondary, our safety Ross #5 comes up well in run support. He is getting looks from state, clemson, and several other schools.

Leadership , that’s what it’s all about. And you thought it was the Hocky Pocky. Senior leadership is a plus on defense. Every team needs a defensive field manager. Someone who can get team mates where they need to be if they happen to line up wrong. Someone the entire defense trusts . GO BIG RED !

Recent trip to Wake Forest as well. Talked to his dad a few weeks back; kid really wants to play at Harvard.

KM is favored for a reason. But pin your ears back defense vs. assignment football are two COMPLETELY different things. I really think the game comes down to the SP defense instead of the KM defense. Very rarely has the SP offense lost a game for them. Over (4) quarters the big boys upfront for KM will wear down. If the SP D can get some stops I think it could be a good game. If they can't, it will be a long night.
There only one PROBLEM with KM'S BIG BOYS upfront WEARING DOWN, they do not have BIG BOYS upfront.

I like to see a 3 - 0 final with Birtwhistel kicking a 47 yd field goal in the 4th quarter. I’m expecting a great game. Should be one of the premier games in the state. This game should go a long way toward playoff seedlings.

I've been watching KM on YouTube. Defense looked very quick. D line and linebackers especially good. The only way in my opinion that Raiders win, is if they have long drives and take time off the clock. Also limited penalties. A tough row to hoe for SP. Game should be close! When SP gets behind it will be interesting how they react. Should be a close game. GO BIG RED!!!

No it shouldn't be a close game. It probably will be but it shouldn't be. SP's defense isn't all that and if KM can deal with the illegal cut blocks to the linebackers and stop the fullback then they should be good.

If SP gets behind by 2 TD's or more then it is over as long as KM doesn't let up on'em. They can't pass the ball. The one pass against us they had 2 men in motion and the refs didn't call it. Now they should have beaten Crest and they did. So, it's not where I'm going.

I'm simply saying KM should beat SP like an unfaithful wife. They probably wont but they should.

SP should just bring more guys down in the box and play the run. They don’t have anyone like a Green that they should have to double or triple team. Keep someone back for the occasional throws but other than that play the run. I’m still leaning towards KM winning this one but you can’t count out SP.

I really hope they do that. Remember the name Lenair. A young KM wideout. He is going to be taking the top off of defenses for the next three years. The last three young players that I mentioned by name on here as being future stars were Kobe Paysour and Day Day Wilson when they were freshmen, Curtis Simpson last year as a sophomore. Those guys turned out pretty good. Lenair has that it factor going for him also.

That’s why I said keep someone back for the occasional passes. They don’t have to drop 8 like they did against crest. They need to worry about the run first and don’t fall asleep on the passes, especially the short one’s. I’m not saying they will win but it will give them the best chance defensively.

Illegal cut blocks? Cut blocks aren’t illegal…chop blocks are. Also…there is a free blocking zone and since we still play mens tackle football at South Point, we will continue to play by the rules. Oh and by the way….. Tell that loud mouth yelling Thursday night for “SP warm up the bus” that we did. We warmed it up and ran slap over y’all’s behind on Friday night, and it felt like a speed bump.

Ok chief. Whatever you say. What bus did they tell y’all to warm up? You were the home team did they just get on one and ride around in circles?

If you’re going to make crap up. At least have good sense. Otherwise you end up looking like a dunce.

Chop blocks. That’s what I meant to type. My bad. You can rewatch the game. You’ll see.

You must be 78’s kin folk. I see the resemblance in the way you both post.

You nappy necks are just blatantly stupid. “Warm up the bus”.😂😂😂. You made that garbage up.

Hey rulz sounds like you might need some anger management classes. Has Crest ever just lost a game because they weren’t good enough to win? Do you always have to point out the missed calls by the refs? Does it make you feel better to call people names? I would say things likeif you said I disagree with what he’s saying than he doesn’t know what I’m talking about.

Don’t be dumb. Here’s my post from last Friday. See below.

South Point won that game straight up. The fullback is a man and the freshman QB is special. Crest's run defense is horrid and it has been all year. On the very first play from scrimmage for SP every fan in the stands and everyone listening on the radio and anyone watching from the space-station on the way by knew that the fullback was going to get the ball. There were 11 people on the planet who were the only ones who didn't know it. Apparently.

Maybe 12.

The better team won. Period. No excuses can or should be made. Congrats to those young men for doing what they do over and over again. We got pounded like a lot lizard.

Just have to get better.
