I did too but that Carver team we faced was loaded with D1 prospects. Sometimes people forgot that certain opponents have dudes also. Through the years I thought we have definitely had opportunities. That 96 KM was absolutely loaded but was caught looking ahead to Hickory instead of focusing on the task at hand. 2019,2020, were really good opportunities for us. 2018 Catholic was just better. 2017 still stings because we definitely had a shot that year. 2015 we had a bad game plan in my opinion against your Raiders and paid for it. We have been banging on the door for awhile.I thought y'all were gonna win it in 98, I remember being there when bubba ran all over Kannapolis. I had a cousin on that team and played against all those guys, and played aau basketball with a couple km guys. I expect a slobber knocker ball game, should be a good one.
My favorite SP team that I watched was the 2003 team. Those guys were some straight killers. When they got you down it was almost like sharks feeding with blood in the water. Brandon Reid was one the best all around football players I’ve ever seen. This dude literally made almost every tackle on kickoff coverage for SP. I lined up against some good SP teams myself back in the day. Coach Biggerstaff was the SP coach then. I can remember me and my boys on D getting after Willie Strain from SP. That dude was a grown man running the ball. Look him up. We would try to knock him out of the game but he would keep coming back at us like the terminator lol.
One thing we do not take for granted is the network of coaches at South Point with a gazillion years of experience. We know SP will be ready to play with a good game plan and with expectations to win the game. I expect a battle.
