In all fairness I know I was questioning Tarboro too after that game too - but once I calmed down I realized that game was more about the jimmys and joes. Mount Airy had them and we haven’t seen a team since that did. I think Murphy will have some Saturday.Tarboro has begun to fall. Wonder what that guy thinks now. It's funny cuz how many teams have tried to replicate what Mount airy did defensively since that game? And none of them have come even close.
I was as well. Many Tarboro fans were disappointed by what they saw. But like you said, they had more Jimmy's and Joe's than we did. We've seen a few stout defense's since then and have faired well. It's still funny how since that game, Tarboro haters still bring it up as a reference to beat them. A game from two years ago

For my Tarboro fans. Good clips and videos over the years. This was done after the Spring 21 season before the fall 21 championship. Not a fan of the music, but good clips from past years.

Starmount's D was the truth this year. I would've loved to have seen it against the run game of Tarboro, not that I think it could've been stopped this year, but just as a measuring stick. Murphy has a good one too. I do think East had the second best in the West behind Starmount.
Excited to see Tarboro this year.

Today makes 15 years since we beat Winston Salem Carver at Wake Forest
Today also makes 16 years since we beat mountain heritage in 2009, and 4 years since we defeated Mitchell.
As tough as our schedule has been this year - in his updated rankings the only team on our schedule that he has rated higher than Murphy is Hunt, who just happens to be playing in the 5A title game on Saturday. He would have Murphy favored by 8 over Kinston, who’s playing in the 3A title game.
Another example of why im not buying this “down team” “down SMC” talk.
I still say the mud kept Murphy from winning by three TDs last week, but I will gladly take a 12 point win in the mud! But last week is over. Much bigger fish to fry this weekend!

Tarboro is the heavy favorite almost everywhere, let's be honest almost all of the bulletin board material is the other way.

It's a really nice song all kidding a side this could be one for the ages two storied programs battling it out for a title. Much respect for both programs just leave it all on field and at the end of the game may the better team win.
Leave it to our local weekly toilet paper rag to stir the pot. Coverage of the Bulldogs has been minimal at best this year, no team or individual stats reported. I am not sure if any of the staff even attend the games, or if they do just long enough to snap a couple of pics.

What does that have to do with what we're talking about?Well, Murphy, bring one back to the SMC. Robbinsville had a couple mistakes that cost them the game. Wilson Prep also lucked out as well with the kick.
I know it stings but A 27yd FG that would’ve been good from 35+ wasnt luck. Their luck came when your coach called the fake punt

Yep. Should have punted. They got away with going for it on 4th down the previous drive. Went to the well one time too many. Hate it for the Knights. I was pulling for them.

Ummm. Yes. A 27 yard field goal when a team hasn’t attempted a FG all year after 2 delay of games on 4th down. Yeah I’d say there is a little luck involved. Yeah the coach should’ve punted but the fact that that miraculously worked in that situation, took a little luck.
