Didn't we think we got them?
Staton-McCray, 41.3% 2 years ago at Samford, 33.3% this year
Williams, 37.1% 2 years ago at LSU, 33.7% this year
Dar, 37% last year at Rice, 19.0% this year
Simpkins, 26.3% least year at Elon, 37% this year but only 31.9% in the BE (at least he improved)
Parker, 35.7% last year at NC State, 20.5% this year
For context
Staton McCray in his first 3 years at Samford shot .287, .286 and .288 on 4.9, 2.3 and 2.9 attempts per game.
He then improved to .413 % on 3.0 attempts a game. The season cited above proved to be an outlier.
In one season at Miami, he regressed to
.323 % on 3.2 attempts.
In his 1 season at Seton Hall, he has shot .333 % on 4.9 attempts.
ASM is a career .330 3PT % shooter on an average 3.2 attempts.
.331% in 4 years at Samford on 3.2 attempts ( in first 3 years was 28%)
.323% in 1 year at Miami on the same 3.2 attempts
.333% in 1 year at Seton Hall on much higher usage of 4.9 attempts
ASM's one 40% year at Samford was a complete outlier, but I suspect the jump got him paid at Miami where he shot his career average. Which probably helped us land him in the portal.
He then maintained his career average at Seton Hall with much higher attempts -
4.9 compared to 3.2
This has been ASM's best 3 point percentage shooting year in his career other than the 40% year cited at Samford.
