Starting to get worried about Budd.. Hes not playing well at all. He looks small and plays small.
Yeah Clark does not look good tonight and has been overly impressive.

On the flip side, Simpkins look like a nice piece. Also like Dar's play too

Fun to watch when the ball goes in the basket. Budd has to slow down a touch, still has 4 assists.

Ok effort, now it gets much more serious.
Simpkins very good, smooth, Payne, AJSM good.
Dar nice game, Hines unselfish. Williams good start, Clark struggled a lot.

Sha says Hines has a bad groin and was held out of practice this week. I did think that Hines didn't play with his usual explosiveness. We can't afford him to be injured especially with Godswill unlikely to help us anytime soon.

10 posts for the entire game…. Maybe we should play William Paterson next.

For a program that needs a lot of things to go right to get meaningful fan interest this was not the way to go.

Sha is failing off the court just as much as he is on it.

The lack of participation in this thread has as much to do with the OP as anything else.

What the program needed were
wins.

They got five of them, now things progress a bit.

imagine if Seton Hall, and not Penn State, was the team that played a road game at New Haven. UConn has also played them. That Hurley guy must be a clown!

Here’s what the first five opponents illustrate to me - St Peter’s, Wagner and Monmouth, are all local teams who show how Metro basketball is really down. Fairfield is eh as well, and New Haven is one of those teams that everyone schedules to fill out 31 games. I’m not sure why the quality of tri-state hoops has slipped so much.

So Hines has a groin injury and we are down to one healthy big man? So why in a 20 point plus game was Mbaye held out until under a minute? Dumb if you ask me and very short sighted of Sha! What happens if Hines had gone down in a 20 point game with 5 minutes to go? These are the kind of games where kids get hurt. If you put Mbaye on the court with 4 starters and 5 minutes to go and a 20 point plus lead what is the harm?

At least we’re getting closer to real games.
That could be the scary part of the schedule. Still not sure what we have in terms of players and wins. Already a ton of injuries and now Hines with a sore groin. That could linger all season and diminish his effectiveness in the paint.

Let's hope that between now and Monday the banged up players come back better than ever and we are in better shape to take on the better teams we will be facing.

Isnt the answer rather obvious? And, playing Rivera made more sense imo

I thought they put it into cruise control during the second half and that led to the point total. I did not think it was a stagnant offense.

No not to me! Sorry but I see absolutely no harm or issue. If he was causing an issue you can always pull him. All you need him to do in the final 5 minutes is to take up space in the low post, maybe block a shot, maybe rebound. The other 4 guys are capable enough to use up clock and score. If not then Sha has a serious problem!

After last year, what choice did he have? You can't have it both ways. There's a lot to be critical of Sha about but this isn't one of them.

If you rather see us start off the season playing a bunch of top 100 teams and see us get slapped around to start the season, immediately erase any confidence in our players, turn the team and program negative right off the bat, and and have disgruntled players and bad chemistry, that's what you saw last year. I don't need to see that again.

I'd rather let our brand new team that has no post-season expectations get their bearings and develop some chemistry playing teams they should easily beat before turning things up a few notches for Maui etc and then conference play. No sense ending our season before it starts.

Least of our problems. Is this Mbaye obsession like part 2 of that Duck guy who thought Nganga was a future NBA allstar?

No obsession! If Payne gets injured then what? Hines has a sore groin. He looked it last night. 2 points in 17 minutes and NO blocked shots. In fact he had one of his shots blocked. He probably can't jump with the sore groin. If he is not 100% who is left to back up Payne at the center spot? If Payne goes down we are in deep doo doo. If Hines keeps playing that groin may not heal.

Now maybe Godswill is coming along soon but who knows. Do you?

Maybe MBaye is not the answer but he can chew up more minutes in games where we have a good lead. We appear to be fragile at the center position and we have not even played any quality team yet!
