Lamont Butler with a cool 18/6/5 last night with the Hawks
I bet you're fun at parties
It’s similar to when Tubby left. He doesn’t want to be let go (that leaves a stain on his career), wants to go somewhere he’s wanted and show everyone (& himself) that he can still coach.Let’s say for some asinine reason, VT offers to take Stoops off our hands. The question now becomes:
Will Mark Stoops take a multi-million dollar per year paycut (because they surely aren’t going to pay that man 9 per) and leave a possible 40 million buyout on the table to go coach in Blacksburg?
You guys . . .
Big difference between Piglet and Tubby are the vicious terms of a divorce settlement with Chantelle’s meat hooks on half of that buyout. Money here is all that matters.
Don't do this to yourself. I care about you. While I don't think Stoops should even be in VaTech's top 5 candidates, am I crazy to think it would actually be a solid hire (for both parties)? The obvious front runner would be Beamer but I'm pretty sure he left on bad terms and seems to want to distance himself from the school. VT has tried the young up and comer route and then the re-tread route and neither worked. Stoops is a consistent guy with the lunch pail attitude they seem to adore.
Stoops gets to go back to the ACC, can still recruit Ohio and doesn't have the same pressure of an SEC slate. He'd have them competing for division championships in no time.

Good lord.
I find it hard to believe since ol man Beamer is a special assistant to the AD and since his son has some constant animosity with Stoops. Maybe deep down there's some mutual respect there we're unaware of.While I don't think Stoops should even be in VaTech's top 5 candidates, am I crazy to think it would actually be a solid hire (for both parties)? Need a UCL nihilist post right about now.
Stoops main issue has been in game coaching and adjustments. He's horrible with time management and is either too aggressive when it isn't warranted or too conservative when he needed aggression.
I had a work colleague refuse to start his pension benefits from a former employer just to spite his ex wife and prevent her from getting her half. He passed away recently without ever drawing a penny of it. Just saying… How much does Stoops dislike his ex?![]()
I understand your overall position and the fact that you are probably salty AF over all the help you financially provided behind the scenes over the last several years with seemingly no real return. You guys need to understand Stoops is greedy as they come. He isn’t giving UK any [ . . . ] discount.
With Stoops, Joker, Brooks, Mumme, Curry, Claiborne it is really tough. That’s not exactly a list of college HOF caliber coaches. The ceiling for UK Football is, always HAS been, and for the foreseeable future, remains at consistent winning regular seasons. In this environment that means SEVEN wins.
That is exceedingly difficult, when you consider that you only get 3 "automatic" wins a year now.
Let's be generous, and say that you split, on average, with UL. You need to average 3.5 SEC wins per year.
Look up how many times, in the last 60 years, Kentucky has won more than 3 SEC games in a season.
The answer is NINE times. For a dismal and uninspiring FIFTEEN percent.
And only 8 seasons, if you don't count the vacated 2021 wins, for an even worse THIRTEEN percent.
THIS is what we're up against, in the NEW era of SEC football.
Sobering, isn't it?

If our AD could just luck into a great hire it won’t be as difficult. Coaching matters a great deal now more than ever since the playing field is more level with talent.
