Upswing did not last long. Another example of premature celebration of success.
At 2-5/1-4 in conference and Duke, Notre Dame, NC State and Syracuse on the schedule (they have UConn this coming week), going to be a tough slog.

OP is wrong about almost everything.

I think Babers is #1 but it's rough going considering he lost last week and GS beat him head to head.

We're due for a thread blaming GS for the oveturned Slaton fumble vs WVU.

No - it’s going to be that “hot” East Carolina coach one poster raves about. With their spectacular 5-3 record.

It has to be Bielema. He's the next one
And he was apparently runner up for the RU job if Greg did not work out. But RU beat Bielema/Illinois head to head last year and RU (Flood) beat Bielema's Arkansas, so RU is 2-0 against Bielema.
Have to pick another one?

Neal Brown must be doing a real terrible job at WVU . He's listed twice on the Hot Seat list.

Actually, an unfounded rumor I'm starting, Greg was runner up to Bret and Hobbs was ready to bring the ex pork butt onboard until Southern Gentleman contacted him and convinced Hobbs Schianowould be a better fit than Bielema..
So Greg got the job while Bret went to the land of the one year wonders after spending a year with the Giants when they didn't look big

I'm not allowed to speak about Leipold's fall from grace, because I've been accused of being to harsh on the next Bear Bryant. I recognize he is a good coach, but let's pump the brakes on his being a "great coach." He was 2-10 in his first season. His first 5 wins were against a bunch of cupcakes (except Duke) (Houston and Iowa State suck this year), but we had fans asking why can't Greg measure up to LL's standards. Every situation is unique, and I think we agree, you have to look at the situation the HC inherited in terms of talent, the conference and the division they play in, as well as injuries. It is a bit difficult comparing the second year record of a Big 12 HC with that of third year B1G East coach.

Look at Mel Tucker. Wonder if those boosters have buyer's remorse? Too much, too soon, IMO.
Just how bad of a speaker is Mel Tucker ? Listened to several of his post and pre game speeches… the man borders on being brain dead at times. I know it is not easy to get up and give responses to some inane reporters questions but at least show some emotion . I wonder is he this way when he recruits or does MSU still live off it’s past ?

If only Schiano and Bielema faced off against one another in the past year.

Oh man, I bet if that happened Bielema beat Schiano with the high flying offense our fans have been begging for!

Right?!

I always root for the guys who did well for us to do well. He’s got BCU with a winning record and recruiting well. Yea they are getting butchslapped by their big brother but they are on the upswing
I don't know which post of Cali's was more exemplary of his lack of assessment capabilities ... this one, or the one touting the lack of hurricanes one week before Ian devastated parts of Florida.

But then we can go back to week 1 and find posters talking about how legit BC's offense and QB are, which is just as bad an assessment.

UConn defeats BC 13 -3 .

Hats off to Mora!!!
He might be what those dogs need to survive in the FBS.
But basketball being in the Big East ,and no football m will make it hard to find a conference that will take just the football program and remaining independent might cost too much .
Making staying a FBS program hard to do.

the conversation should be around Mora not Halfey. He’s doing a phenomenal job. How many points do you think we’d score against UConn??? That game would be a pickem and I’d bet the huskies. At least we’re smart enough not to schedule them.

So now we are pivoting to Mora? Shall we start a Hats off to Mora thread? Let's take a look.

He was fired at UCLA after 4-8 (2-7) and 5-6 (3-5) Seasons.

UConn was 1-11 last year, beating Yale.

Who have they beat this year?
-FCS Central Connecticut, currently 1-7 in the Northeast Conference.
-Fresno State, who also lost to FCS Cal Poly
-FIU, who had to go to OT to defeat Bryant and lost 73-0 to Western Kentucky
-BC- nice win for UConn

Next up, UMass, coached by Don Brown and currently 1-7!

Let's proclaim Mora the next coming of Bear Bryant!!! It has worked out so well on these boards.

I don't have the same "feels" lol for Mora as I do for Leipold and Elko who I think can get those programs to decent. Elko definitely has a good chance for a bowl in year 1 at Duke. BC, VT, Pitt, WF are what's left so I think 6 is very likely and a fair chance at 7 even. Nice job by him.

As to Mora I did come across this in the Athletic. Seems like a solid job for year 1 whether they bowl or not but again I don't pay any attention to them to know much. I don't see coach of the year for him. I think Heupel or Dykes has the inside track on that as of now.

From the article:

Finally, we may be looking at a new frontrunner for National Coach of the Year: UConn’s Jim Mora. First, the Huskies snapped an 18-game FBS losing streak. On Saturday, they beat Boston College 13-3 to earn their first win in six years over a Power 5 opponent (and first ever against BC). UConn, which went 10-50 from 2016-21, is now 4-5 on the season, with winnable games remaining against UMass and Army.

There’s a very real scenario where UConn makes a bowl game this season and Texas A&M does not.

No doubt about it the win against BC was a good win for them. But to go from swirling around the bowl to floating to the top doesn't change the fact that UConn are turds playing a turd schedule.

Their remaining schedule is UMass (probable win), Army (likely loss) and Liberty (definite loss-I'll eat my hat if they beat Liberty).

And they lost to Fresno St. 45-0 last year
Lost to Holy Cross
Lost to UMass

He may not be the the next Bear Bryant but he's one hell of an improvement.
