Jayden Quaintance is projected to be cleared for contact in September, six months following his surgery, his father says, putting him in line to return to action before the start of the 2025-26 college season in November.

"He's already ahead of schedule, the doctor says, and should be cleared for contact in September," Haminn Quaintance said.

I hope he can even play. ACL surgery .
Last word was he should be ready by September.
Couple months to get back in playing shape and no telling how long till he fully trust not blowing it out again.

I like the signing. Another power 5 signing. 3 of those already.

He may not do much or may dominate. He won't hurt us if he does little but will help if he plays well.

Top5 roster in talent.
And likely a top10 coach (and maybe higher).

Not many teams can say that. Were gonna be really good next year.

Id still like to see a true center, even if it's more of a role player. But that's about it. Just one more bench piece and were all set by mid April. And hopefully Pope can now focus a bit on recruiting for 2026 and beyond.

Wow lets go! Awesome news! I hope he can be healthy.

I didn't get to watch him play at AZ State but I know he has massive potential.

I love that he came here even though CCC isn't here anymore!

Kid has great hands, can handle the ball like Amari, can pass, has great instincts and is EXTREMELY athletic and explosive!! Won’t have to worry about this kid DUNKING the ball when he gets it down low!! The shooting numbers WILL improve with Coach Pope and his staff working with him.

If he does return to practice by September, look out!!

Yep.

I’m penciling him in at the 5 and moving Garrison to the 4. Quaintance plays more like Williams did and Garrison played some 4 for us and played some 4 at Ok St. so I think he does well there.

I think he can definitely defend the 4 spot.

On offense the 4 shoots spot up 3’s and cuts to the basket for layups/dunks and sometimes posts up. He might not be as good at those things as Carr right now, but remember Carr was a fifth year Senior and Garrison is heading into his third year.

So Garrison and Quaintance start at the 4 and 5. Dioubate off the bench at the 4. Moreno off the bench at the 5. This is assuming Quaintance is 100% recovered to start the season.

Good gamble.

We’ve got Dioubate, Garrison, and Moreno at the 4/5. Plus Williams and Noah can play small ball 4’s at times. If he can play, we become very deep inside. If he is ready to go by September, dude is starting most likely.
Probably a really good spot for him in that even if he's not 100% ready by October, he could be a mid-season add and he won't be required to log 30+ minutes per game. He can still showcase his skills and potential playing 20 minutes per game while getting his conditioning and knee in shape for the NBA. I think he's a one and done regardless.

That’s godawful lol but I’m more worried about the ACL recovery. Fingers crossed.
I agree. I'm pumped about the JQ addition. I do worry if he'll be healthy. With all the injuries we've had, I'm a little gun shy. And I still have nightmares (lol🤪) about the Sharp fiasco. I hope he doesn't come here, sits on the bench because of his injury and then goes off to the NBA without playing much, if at all, for us. If he's healthy and can play...WOW! BOOM!!!💙💙💙

Can’t overstate how big this is for our team. We are going to be absolutely loaded at the 4/5 with this pick up.

Add one more shooter and Kentucky is a top 3 favorite to cut the nets down next year.
But I thought we just couldn't compete anymore, that NIL and the portal is leaving us in the dust, that we will never sniff another final four.

Absolutely. My expectation as of today is for him to join around the beginning of SEC play with him rounding into form the back half of SEC play. I’d be shocked if he plays before January. He’s got too much draft stock to risk coming back early.

They have to know that Alvaro is a must get also. Not only insurance, but we have to have at least one big that can spread the floor and is highly highly skilled.
Alvaro is a long shot IMO.
I think he takes a guaranteed starters role somewhere else.
Alvaro wasn't taking the team to another level.
You would just be treading water with him as a starter.
Year one stop gap players were necessary but not moving forward.

One difference is all the portal guys that we are getting are young..

That so far is probably the only thing last year will have more of, and thats experience. It will probably cost us a game or two this year, where as last year, I thinknl our experience saved us a game or two.

But we're now taller, longer, faster.. and probably will be healthier too now that our average age is younger. So for whatever we lack in experience, we should be able to make for by simply exerting our will on the opponent (and thats something last years team couldn't do).

I think if everyone is healthy I might start the season with MD and JQ starting with BG first off the bench at either spot. Let Moreno get his footing before being a full rotation piece.

Not to mention the possibility of a ton of continuity going into next season. We will lose a few players, but a lot of these guys are going to be back after next season.

He was a great get the first time. He’s a better get this time. 👍🏀

Pope is killing it in recruiting!!

What’s the timeline on that recovery nowadays?
