This would be considered a "Big Opportunity" game for Seton Hall. Winning this one would be a Huge Resume Chip. Although SHU has done quite well against UConn the past few years, this one has a different feel. We certainly hope they will play a competitive game from the outset. I'm not sure The Hall can afford to get too far behind this time. Hopefully, this is not going to be the Reality Check beatdown by UConn.
Usually, when SHU gets ranked, they have struggled to some degree. The good news is the now #25 Hall only have one day to have that distraction. UConn is really good this season. They are not perfect but probably will compete for the National Title. UConn has a big edge in starting production. That may be the difference. Ball, Karaban, Reed, Mullins, and Demery Jr. are averaging a combined 64 PPG. That's a lot to overcome. On the other hand, UConn cannot match SHU's Bench production on most nights. I believe Sha's scheme will be to try shutting down one of the key UConn players and frustrate the others. Hopefully, they slow down Karaban and shut down Mullins who is becoming a big factor for them.
You would think Seton Hall's defense will show up, but what about the offense? Seton Hall can win this game if they score in the 70's. Sha really needs his starters to turn it around offensively when playing a Quality team at The Rock. The Villanova and Creighton games saw disappointing offensive outputs especially, in the first halves. So, it's time for Staton-McCray, Williams, Fisher, Payne and Clarke to come out with high intensity from the opening whistle. Embrace the Hall Crowd and stop playing so tight at home. The game is supposed to be the fun part.
