3 new WRs playing over Franklin guys.
1 new OL playing over Franklin guys,
1 new LB playing over Franklin guys,
1 new DE/DT with some playing time
1 new S (sort of) playing over Franklin guys
1 new DT playing backup role with some playing time.

I’m not sure I completely buy the narrative that Franklin didn’t want to use the portal and was only loyal to his guys.
There was no alternative at WR or LB. The rest of those guys are flipping coins

There’s a reason that the AD was the one announcing loudly and publicly that PSU was in need of WRs in the portal, not the coach

Nate Bauer talked about this difference of opinion between them extensively in the podcast the week after the firing.

Yup. And now we are all clamoring for Franklin’s young recruits at WR and LB to play more. How ironic.

Only if they end with the Motor City Bowl in Detroit. If not, then I’ll take 5-7, 3-9, 0-12.

Don’t take it the wrong way. He clearly would love some 7-5 seasons.
No I wouldn’t, but how’s it any different than all the “fans” on here that have been cheering on Franklin’s demise for years and hoping he would lose every game? I hope we get a home run hire, but I’m pretty confident we won’t. I don’t think there’s a coach out there that can do much more than Franklin did (see the last 25 years of Paterno’s career).

Interesting ... McAfee on GameDay just said there are some rumors and talk of Sark leaving Texas for the NFL... Would be another big job opening if that opened up

The money press in Hammond is running overtime.

They will regret not signing Fran/Elijah combo.
The publicity alone would bring in studs they are now losing.
I don't know about regret, but they are worth giving a shot, and
makes sense Recruiting would be a major bump, and he would
get just about whoever he wants in the portal. He has more upside
than Rhule and advantage with recruiting over Manny.
Most coaches on PS fans lists will be in the playoffs, timing and roster
retention is critical.

- Michigan had two with starting careers in the NFL: Tom Brady and Jim Harbaugh
- UGA (Matthew Stafford, still an NFL starter)
- USC has had many drafted. Probably the only ones with NFL longevity were Pat Haden, Rodney Peete, and Matt Cassell

None of those QBs played for the current staff at any of those schools. I don't think Sherrone Moore is getting a Tom Brady bump.

Urban Meyer for 10 million per year for as long as he wants to stay.. Hire Hartline as the OC and the next head coach in waiting.

winners win
Unless something changes drastically it's going to be Matt Rhule. That's the info I got last night. I was so upset I had to sleep on it. A perpetual 7-5 here we come. I just don't get it
:( OK I'm publicly eating my words. Throw all the lists out.

It ain't difficult to see.

The first time anyone told (former)HCJF "No", he checked out. Not surprising given how many times he was always told "Yes".
And this is why I agreed 100% with the decision.
I don’t know that they’ll get somebody better than the Franklin we had up until this season. I do know the Franklin we had this season could be easily upgraded going to the high school ranks. He was not into doing his job this season. That can never be allowed to happen. Certainly not at $8,000,000 a year.

It’s pretty easy to remember when the talent and depth was far worse than now. 2000-2004 and 2014-2015.

Yesh, but recall one recruiting class in those early 00 years had 11 members and we know why 14-15 was depleted. Bad luck had contributed to this years issues but more than that it seems these kids just aren’t ready to play. Kind of stunning.

If that is true, Kraft needs to be fired immediately. He is guaranteeing mediocrity.

I can't disagree but that is the conventional wisdom at this time. We can always pray that something changes. And pray we beat the snot out of Nebraska when they come to town.

Those fans who don't want Ruhl better make Kraft's phone ring off the hook and make his email crashe due to the volume of emails saying no way..

The recruiting numbers of the early 2000’s didn’t matter as much as the recruiting quality stunk. No sanction. No restriction. Just badly misjudging on talent.

Wow. So, the powers that be would rather be mediocre with a PSU guy above all else? Can we dress him in rolled up khaki’s and coke bottle glasses and pretend that it is the 1980’s to make everyone feel better also?

Seems that way for now but I'm hoping something happens at the negotiating table. Pray I've been heavily smoke screened.

If the powers that be are pushing Rhule, thereby forcing Kraft’s hand, then those same powers that be must have asked Kraft, “Now why did you go on about championships as our standard? Did you think to check with us first?”

😞
