I understand what you said and meant, but you also admitted there are no more candidates available who can recruit at Franklin’s level. Therefore, without Franklin (since he’s now longer with our program), the assumption is that PSU won’t be anywhere near a top-15 school in recruiting since no one else is available that can bring in those types of hauls. I don’t agree with that assessment because I think PSU can elevate a coach’s ability to recruit to some degree, but understand that is your argument. However, I completely share the concern that a drop off in recruiting is possible because of Franklin’s ability to connect with players and families, and if that occurs, then we will be searching for a new coach much sooner than we had to with Franklin’s tenure. I share some of your concerns but differ in degree of how well the PSU brand can attract players.
Bottom line is that we really do need a very good recruiter to stay relevant nationally.
