They deserve to be IN the tournament at this point. It’s all about getting the W at the end of the day and they handled us twice.
But their BE resume is very similar to us. 7 close games vs the bottom feeders. Like I said….got the job done. But if a couple of those would have swung the other way, would the BE have been in jeopardy of only getting 2 teams in?

More important we will need the win at Xavier. The game will be tough enough and you don't want them getting a second wind as the season winds down.

Villanova is a good team with a bunch of games vs mediocre to bad competition. They’re not great, they’re not even very good. They will get in because they’ve shown they can compete with very good and great teams minus their one stinker vs Michigan. They’ve also shown they can struggle vs crap. When is the last time a 21-5 team in the big east was not ranked? This is not a knock on Villanova but the number of teams in the big east who have underperformed. I’m not even going to say Villanova finds a way to win games, a lot of these big east teams find ways to lose them.
If all our losses could have just swung the other way we’d be off the bubble….

I thought I read that bubble teams should root for SDSU to win so they could secure an automatic bid.
in retrospect that didn’t sound right.
I think St Louis and VCU are both interesting bubble cases, as dont think the a10 is very strong and neither a really high profile win (understanding that better teams avoided playing them). Given the SEC, big ten, and big 12 bubble teams have resume opportunities over the next few weeks, going to be a challenge for vcu and st Louis.
For st Louis or vcu to have any chance at a at large, they have to make it to the a10 title game without losing another until then. They face each other again on Friday at VCU.

The BE standings are manic, but the top teams have been pushed way more often than the record indicates.

Nice work . It's very important to follow other bubble teams . Please keep us updated on all bubble teams we are up against .

a few years ago there was a running thread that a poster devoted to “Bubble Watch”. The poster updated it daily to include results and bubble games that had an impact on teams like ours.

They have 1 good win right now. I won’t be feeling any different if they win a game at home.
Nova went 14/22 on FTs. Missed 5/6 in last two minutes of regulation or would have been an easy win. A recurring problem for them.
SHU went 10/22 vs BU. Go 15/22 and its an easy double digit win. Both teams have developed foul shooting problems even among their better shooters.

And 1 bad loss (Creighton). They are safely in tourney field. Helluva job by willard with a team that starts 3 underclassmen.
I’m not disagreeing that they are in the tournament. I’m saying their resume sucks. No quality road wins, no elite wins, lost to 2 best teams in conference
Nova is missing marquee wins. That’s their issue. They’ll get a couple chances.

All the metrics show the league is down empirically. Prob just the nature of league play but they’ve been in a lot more close games than the records would suggest IMO.

Do you watch BE lower level teans and think they stink?
Our free throw issues are a head-scratcher. We were so good earlier this year. Even our previous 80 & 90% free throw shooters are bad now.
