We’ve shot .245 from 3 in BE games. We look like a grade school team when a zone is thrown up. Lucky to be 14-4, 4-3 like this with one side of the floor this bad. How about a heater and stat correction at MSG? 🤣

So bad, but that's Holloway basketball. We get what we deserve as long as he is in SH's employ.

Wide open threes were attempted and big ole bricks were shot. Can’t consistently shoot from the outside like that and expect to win games. On top of that, the amount of missed free throws is also concerning.

What happened to the team that was scoring in the 70s and 80s in Maui and at K-State?

Our athletes are not good shooters. Forgot about tossing up 3 pointers and drive the ball to the basket. The other teams don't have Bill Russel to bat it into the seats..

I said many days past that this team is much better with "D" than last year but that is mainly due to the press. If the press is not working its magic they are in deep dodo as this team is not better than last year's team as far as 3 point shooting and 2 point shooting. It seems like every BE team we played can shoot better than us from 2 and 3 in the half court. Our BE stats prove this out and this does not bode well for the upcoming games.

Those drives to the baskets are also coming up empty.

There are also a lot of worse shots taken now.
A lot of worse shots because everyone plays hero ball. No interior passing and the lack of confidence in the 3 just exacerbates everything.

Rivera passed up at least 2 wide open looks at the top of the key.

It’s like the whole team hesitates when there’s a chance to shoot early in the shot clock.

I dont want rivera taking 3s anyway. Sha says we are good shooters in practice but cant hit in games. I doubt that.

I would start doing things more through Hines to start the game. Or get Fisher back to posting up, that's seemed to evaporate too. The vibes are bad offensively, especially at home for some reason and anyone who has ever played knows what that does.

Our home BE games. 1st half numbers. Digusting. We haven't broken 30 points or 40% shooting in the first half at home in BE play. That is WILD.

27 points, .343 vs. Villanova
18 points, .269 vs. Creighton
22 points, .391 vs. Connecticut
24 points, .333 vs. Butler

Haha I didn’t miss you that much. Maybe just a little.

you don’t think you’re more active posting when we lose? To each their own

Sorry, I guess I don't get as excited as you'd expect over beating teams like New Haven, St. Peter's, Monmouth, Rutgers, or even this year's edition of Marquette.

No need to ever apologize to me. I admit we’re not as good as I thought, but again, you’re more active when we lose.
BTW I love how you cherry picked our most underwhelming wins to support your point. Kudos.

all of these players stats from their previous schools showed this was a collection of terrible shooters. not really surprised.

It's a lot more difficult to press when you don't score.

They don't deserve to be ranked, as we saw this week. But I posted in that same thread you're referring to. Can't make it up how silly you guys are.
i mean just because they lost doesn't mean they didn't deserve to be ranked.

We're too predictable now
I think this is the root of it. We don't run pretty offense which leads to a lot of bad shots. Spacing can be an issue, we are always near the bottom of the country with outside shots, so you don't have to worry about much.

But there's also something to be said for guys being in a slump. It's been so bad the numbers are even below career averages now. The team is missing lots of shots that were made earlier in the season. A lot of good looks are clanging right now. And the yips are showing up at the FT line too, always a sign. Gotta figure it out.

It's a lot more difficult to press when you don't score.
It's also less effective now that it has been seen over and over and the opposing coaches prepare their team for it. For the most part it has not be going so well and the offense that was driven by turnovers off the press is DOA now. Going forward let's see how effective it is.

We haven't played any teams for a second time yet, that will be a good barometer on whether the press can be figured out. I don't think we're there yet. It's one thing to scout it, it's another to play against it with the way SHU plays it. This is one area that bodes well for us if we make the NCAA Tournament too against teams who are unfamiliar.

The defense is good. It fueled the comeback again yesterday once we got down 17 at 16 mins to play. We outscored them by 11 and held them to 16 points over 12 minutes to cut the game to 6 and had a chance to make it down to 4 and momentum with 4 mins to play but we missed two freaking foul shots. SMH. The defense can keep us in striking distance and against bad teams or those who can't handle the pressure it'll create offense.

But it doesn't even matter because you cannot get to where you want to be with this shooting. We are shooting .436 from 2PT range and .245 from 3PT range in BE games, both the worst in the conference BY FAR. We're also just 9th in FT shooting at .701 and many guys who were shooting that well have fallen off. Something is up. Either we need to run better plays or guys need to get their heads right.

They came back from 18 points down with it against the best team in the country?
Was it really the press or the fact that UConn missed free throws and 3 pointers? Shu did not come back because they made their shots. Check who won and the stats.

Or by the time the game starts the kids are exhausted from practices? Just a thought. Also I am seeing more players are banged up and have tape on their hands. Payne has been playing with taped up fingers since game 1.

The next game will be a litmus test for the rest of the season. St John's is playing without a decent point guard supposedly. So let's see what we can do.

Bottom line is that we are not a very good team. Our record at home in th Big East is 1 and 3. We can’t throw the ball in the ocean and lately our foul shooting is a mess.
We are probably last in the Big East and near the bottom in the country in offense efficiency and near the top in fouls committed; both not a good predictor for future outcames. All of that coupled with a stubborn coach is a disaster in the making.
Tuesday’s game will tell us allot about what we can expect for the rest of the season.

We missed the same amount of free throws and ours were missed by 80% free throw shooters and there’s were all missed by a center who was exhausted and carried UConn on his back.

Could be anything.

Everytime Nova made 2-3 buckets and SJU could’ve allowed a run last night, Pitino used his timeouts. Even with the lead. Just to break momentum. Maybe we need to get more aggressive with that too.

I don't know about the St. John's game being the litmus test; to me this game couldn't come at a worse time; they are playing their best ball of the year, and are feeling like now is the time to make a run at the top.

We. on the other hand...are not. I actually am not expecting all that close of a game tomorrow night unfortunately; what I am looking for is what we do in the games immediately after this one.

Still a lot of basketball to be played, plus the BE tourney.
