So are the devils. Devils can certainly offer the better deal…and the sharks would rather trade him out of the conference.
Of course they would and the package Vegas would have to be significantly better than ours, but as I said before, Vegas FO is crazy, they pull crap like this all the time.

There’s no reason to be crushed either way.

If Meier doesn’t end up in NJ it’s because the sharks were asking for too much…

We’re fine with or without him

Not necessarily, the Devils are scoring without him. Obviously he would improve the offense, but I don't see it as a need.
If he's exactly what we need, how is he not a need? I mean he checks all the boxes, he's big, tough and has skill.

And it's not a deathblow, our window is just opening, but it's a blow as a Timo Meier would push our progress greatly.

He's got another year too so he wouldn't be a rental. Now Wilson would really check all the boxes for us and would be a shrewd pickup.
His presence would help greatly. With him and any Plan B, if we don't get Timo, I think it would soften the blow. Even JVR has been mentioned recently for the Devils. So it looks like Tom Fitzgerald has many contingency plans.

Pass on JVR, a few years ago I would have jumped on him but he seems like a shell of himself.

IF the Devils miss on Meier because the Sharks price is too high. That's all I meant.

Still can't find what the Devils gave up. That said first Ivan Barbasev went to Vegas, then Nino Neidereiter was traded, and now Timo is a Devil.

LeBrun is saying there is no extension and that the Devils became comfortable making the trade without one. I guess that either means the asking price was lowered or they're confident they'll be able to work out an extension once he's here.

I've never seen a trade where the principal parts weren't announced at the same time. LOL.
I wonder if Muk is involved at it's probably earning morning and they're having trouble reaching him? I dunno, this is stupid.

IMO when you have a team that is gelling and scoring and arguably outperforming the sum of its parts by a decent amount, shaking things up and bringing in a high profile new guy, no matter how skilled, doesn't always work out the way people want. Also....not to overstate the obvious, but no one is beating the Bruins this year anyway. Call ne crazy but I'm just fine with letting someone else overpay for Timo.

The price should have come way down considering Timo is a rental. To echo what the great Ranger fan said, this is ridiculous, we should know what players we are losing. I don't know still whether to praise Fitz, or curse him.

This is fishy to me. If the hold up is Shakir Muk. why would other pieces be notified? As of the last half hour Yegor Sharangovich said he received to word he was traded, along with Zetterlund, and Okhutuk. The longer this goes, the more I fear Fitz made a "Viking, Herschel Walker" type blunder.

Sticking point on extension with Timo, the same as with Jasper Bratt. The Devils don't want any player making more than Jack Hughes.
