The price should have come way down considering Timo is a rental. To echo what the great Ranger fan said, this is ridiculous, we should know what players we are losing. I don't know still whether to praise Fitz, or curse him.
Meier isn’t a rental.

He is under one more year of team control at $10 million, or he can be extended.

If the Devils can’t make a long term deal with him, they can get a decent return this summer by trading his rights to a team that can sign him to a long term deal.

Explain to me the Schneider dressed but not playing.
It has nothing to do with him being traded?

This is fishy to me. If the hold up is Shakir Muk. why would other pieces be notified? As of the last half hour Yegor Sharangovich said he received to word he was traded, along with Zetterlund, and Okhutuk. The longer this goes, the more I fear Fitz made a "Viking, Herschel Walker" type blunder.
Maybe it's pending a physical. I did see reports over the last cpl days Timo was held out because of a shoulder.

I must admit I don’t understand how what they are doing helps with the cap as Joe M was implying.

You still get the cap hit for guys who are on the roster but don’t dress for the game, so why would dressing a player but not using him (so he doesn’t count as being in the game) help?

It ridiculous that a team with so many high priced players is acting like they need to get Kane to save them.

oh gosh. Elliot Friedman just reported the deal isn’t done.

An issue with a physical on one of the players

Ugh

My offer would obviously be a 1st...Mukhamadullin or Ohohtyuk, Holtz, and a later pick? Throw in Johansson to help with cap relief...and ask for a later pick in return.

So Meier and 5th....

For Mukhamduullin, Holtz, a 1st, a 3rd, and Johansson.

My offer looks pretty accurate..I must say.

So far Ohotuk, Johansson and a 1st are reported. Zetterlund as well

So it seems like it’s 2 firsts. (Next years is conditional), Zertterlund, Ohohtyuk, Muhkumaddulin and Johnssson for Meier and Harrington.

It’s alot but no blue chippers. The benefit of a deep prospect pool. I love this trade!

Exactly, Muk was the only really good piece out of the bunch. Fitz is the ******* man.

These sort of high end rentals almost always follow the same formula: 1st, conditional pick, high end prospect, mid-level prospect/roster player. And with the losing and draft luck recently, NJD have tons of chips. So, plug in some names. Just a guess:
23 1st
23 2nd or 3rd - cond: NJD win 2 playoff rounds
Mukhamadullin
Zetterlund
Ahem…

Anyone know anything about the goalie?
I'm pretty sure the other three guys were throw-ins to keep the Sharks within the max contract limit. Someone else mentioned they were at 49 of 50, so for every player past the first two we send, they have to send a contract back. They're all 6th round picks, the goalie from '18, the other two from '19, the Russian kid is playing in the ECHL, the goalie has bounced back and forth between AHL and ECHL teams, but hasn't played very many games, and the defenseman Hatakka actually had a few game stint with the big club, so he's probably the the best of the bunch. I very much doubt any of the three will ever play for the Devils.

Cool Hand Fitz, it is official!

Recently Pucks and Pitchforks wrote how Muk might be a better forward than defenseman because despite his size he is not physical. This despite his offensive challenges.

Wow Fitz just added me to his fan club.

More good news NJD fans, I don't think we are done. We still have potential pieces in Holtz, Severson, and Casey to name a few. You have to love this setup between a deep prospect pool and a very good young core.

It’s a first round pick based on conditions. (If Meier resigns, if devils make 3rd round, etc)

Don’t know what the conditions are yet
I believe they stopped allowing conditions based on a player re-signing a couple years ago.

The 2024 conditional pick is a 1st rounder if the Devils make it to the conference final this year or next year and Meier plays 50% of their playoff games this year, otherwise it's a 2nd. If that pick ends up being in the top 10, the Devils can hold onto it and send San Jose their 2025 1st round pick instead.

The other conditional pick is almost certainly this year's 1st round pick. If the Devils end up missing the playoffs and end up with a top 2 pick via draft lottery, then the Devils keep the pick and it becomes a 2024 1st rounder. If that happens and the Devils make the conference final next year, then since both conditions would result in a 2024 1st round pick being sent, to satisfy both conditions, it would be a '24 and a '25 first round pick.

Definitely one of the more interesting deals I can remember with the return ambiguous for so long.

Devils gave up a lot of pieces to get him, can't deny that so makes sense for SJ, but they didn't part with the ones they wanted to keep. Lot of credit to front office for that.

Yeah I read that the hold-up was one of the players the Sharks were including was injured, so I guess they needed to make some minor tweaks to the deal before finalizing it.

What’s up with Miller suspension, if he’s getting one.
I understand he regrets what he did and I know he’s a high character kid, but i know that wasn’t an accidental spew, it was an on purpose reactionary spew he regretted the second after he did it.
It was micro second of really bad judgement.
No real malice and Drew is a really good man to brush this off the way he has.
Drew made it about give me the penalty and not about Miller.
