First guy on the PGA Tour to win a big money tournament was John Rahm when he won the Genesis a few weeks ago.
Kitayama had multiple runner ups to an impressive list of players, Rory, Rahm, Schauffle, plus a 3rd at The Honda Classic in 2022, so he wasn't exactly an unknown to the Tour.
Not the prettiest of swings, but very effective this weekend, that's for sure. Big nuts to keep battling after putting up a few "Others" on the scorecard too.

Like they said on the broadcast, Bay Hill the toughest course on the Tour. Love watching tournaments where the winner is single digits under par.
Interesting take. KK shot par and Rory was 2 under. I think KK held on thanks to a clutch putt on 17th.
In all verity Tiger is TIGER.With his background he should be allowed to play whenever he wants to.This MAN IS A TOP legend in GOLF. THAT should NEVER change.
They should give Anthony Kim an exemption. Everyone wants to see him back.
I never heard the full story on why he walked away. Loved watching him since he was from a muni background. I think I read last year there may have been some LIV interest, but I guess he doesn't want/need to play.

The other issue I've read about is he had a $10+ million disability policy that Lloyds paid off. If he were to play again he'd have to pay it back.
Thanks for that info! I do recall hearing about the disability policy. Forgot about that. Also, makes sense since having $10M in the bank is better than risking a 2nd career on tour (and having to pay anything back). Would still like to see him make a return one day.
I had the opportunity to play TPC Stadium course a couple of years ago with the FL State Golf Assn. I was all in to make the trip from SW FL until I learned that it is cart path only. And the cart paths are purposely located far from the fairways.
Nothing like hitting a nice drive down the middle on a long par four, then grabbing 4 clubs to walk to your ball to figure out your next club selection.

Golf is meant to be played walking with caddies imo.
You can't even take a cart at one of my clubs if you wanted to.
Did they make you take a cart? Played TPC stadium twice and walked the course with a caddy. First time I played All players of our 4some hit the green (played 123 yards). No wind and the green was very receptive. Only 2 made par and one of the guys almost putt off the green into the water. Next time 3 balls in the water(1 being mine) from tee and 2 more from Drop area (luckily I stuck it to 10 feet and got out with a bogey). Drop area angle to the green is not an easy wedge shot.
You passed on a chance to play TPC because why? Are you trying to tell us all that you smoke it down the middle every time? You can walk the course it's mostly flat. They have caddies too. It's stunningly beautiful.
It was a one day outing hosted by the FSGA. No caddies that day, carts only. Ive played many of the top courses in FL. None of the others have a cpo rule.
Imo Bay Hill is a better course. No cpo when I played there.
And I don’t always smoke it down the middle. But I don’t like lugging half my clubs after hitting my tee shot to make the next club selection.
Maybe you like cpo. Many of us do not, unless there are wet grounds that day.

Any recommendations for San Diego golf? Will be out there next month and have Torrey Pines lined up, but would like to get a second round in.
Aviara and Maderas are next 2 highest rated courses i could get on. Anyone have a preference on either of these, or anywhere else?

Not the most glamorous course, won’t show up in many must play lists, but when I’m in San Diego I love to walk Coronado. Municipal course, cheap and some of the best views ( watch naval jets and seal training in the bay). Have walked the course with retired Navy Seals and Naval officers. Fun time.

Thanks, looks like a real cool location. Sounds much more interesting than the other 2 courses i mentioned. Looks like tee times open 14 days in advance, will probably try to get one. I've been to San Diego probably about 10 times but have never actually been on Coronado, although have been up to Point Loma a few times and cool to see all the activity with the planes landing.
PGA pros tore up the players club today, with a no name (Ramey) shooting -8.
Can anyone offer an explanation? I was led to believe that it’s a tough course. They scored it like it was a local muni.

Winning scores in the past have been in the minus teens. McIlroy won it a couple of years ago and was -16. I suspect tomorrow the scores will stabilize a bit and by the weekend, the winner will end up in the same range as past winners anywhere from -12 to -18 or so.
Ironically, with the LIV talk, the lowest winner was Greg Norman at -24.
No I’ve walked it the 2 times I played. It’s actually recommended to walk with caddy.

98% of amateur golfers in FL ride a cart. Ive never seen another course that was cpo at all times for non walkers.

Tiger was one of the best golfers of all time and deserves respect for that.
As a person, probably not so much.
Some people just think about the talent and everything else is secondary
Tiger is easily the best or 2nd best golfer of all time. Compared to Jack his life away from the course is almost a nightmare.

Though to tell you the truth I've never played with a caddie and I think I'd be uncomfortable with someone carrying my clubs.
I was always very uncomfortable when we had a cleaning lady back in our old big house. It just feels weird to me to have something like a servant.
It's not that way with a good caddy. It's more like you're a team, he is your mentor. You are constantly asking him for advice.

First time I played with a caddy it was weird and I did feel uncomfortable ( didn’t think I was worth his time). Then as white bus stated you become a team. He offers advice he tells you where the trouble is and how to avoid it.
If you haven’t used a caddy I highly recommend especially at a course you have never played and want a true experience. Not saying I’m taking a caddy at my local muni that I have played 100 times. But at a special course I will always spring for it.
