OK- so we now have
C - Same as last year
1B - Alonso vs Polanco hmmmm wonder who is better
2B - McNeil vs Semien - Semien is better so that is a positive
3B - Bitchette vs Baty - Bitchette is better
SS - Same as last year.

LF -Baty vs Nimmo...Nimmo much better until proven otherwise. Baty has never played the OF
CF - Roberts vs Taylor - Roberts is better
RF - Same as last year.

SP - same as last year - Ouch
RP - no idea
Closer- Williams vs Diaz...Diaz is much better until proven otherwise.

I have no idea what we are doing with pitching, how can we be ignoring it?

And While I do like Bitchette- I would still rather have signed Alonso to stay at 1B and plug in Polanco at 3B. Baty in the OF can become a complete disaster. Bitchette will also be gone in 2027 unless the Met's do give his a 5+ year extension.

Like I said- this is a team that in a perfect world could be an 86-90 win team and make the WC...but unless we make a major move for a SP- I can't imaging a WS...And now we know why we traded for Roberts, a real big market team with Cohen's money would not have been afraid to go 5 years for Bellinger.

Luis Robert's 2023 WAR was 4.9, last year it was 1.3.

Bellinger in 2025 put up a 4.9, in 2024 it was 2.1.

Robert is 2 years younger.

It is not out of the realm of possibility that Robert meets or exceeds what Bellinger does this season. Considering the cost, I like this move. Five years... what will Bellinger be like in three years? We shall see.

Hopefully a full season of McLean, Sproat, and Tong are better than Griffin Canning, Franky Montas, Tylor McGill, etc.

I agree we need an innings eater SP

I can't believe the Mets didn't sign Jonathan Loaisiga and try to work him into their rotation.

Mets trading for Freddy Peralta reported by a few reporters.

Not sure what the final deal is but here's one report. Will sting a tad prospect wise maybe. Peralta is only signed for one more year.

It's done.

Peralta and Myers for Jett and Sproat. Actually don't love it even though he's really good since he's only got one year of control left and those are two big prospects.

I think they’re finished for the winter. It’s a bit of an overpay, but Peralta said he’s open to an extension. If they can get a short term deal done, that would be stellar.

Peralta and McLean at the top and one of Senga, Manea and Peterson hopefully have a bounce back. That’s a solid top three.

They also picked up another 100+ innings of better than average bullpen, if you include the Garcia signing.

Solid day for the front office.

prospects are prospects until proven otherwise. Perralta will get a qualifying offer so if he bolts we recoup some draft capital. we still have tong, mclean, aj ewing..and dont forget Christian Scott.

You have to think an extension would be in the works
It's obviously possible but I think they might keep as much money open as possible for Skubal next year. Maybe if they don't sign him them use Peralta as somewhat of a fall back but a lot of time between now and then!

The major league team is certainly a lot better for this year with this addition so on that note it's a good thing. I'm definitely a prospect hugger as most can tell so that brings in some of my dislike haha.

What the hell is Stearns doing? Don’t mind losing SProat but Jett could be another PCA. I think you only do this if you are a legitimate contender .

I like Jett a lot but not sure there is a spot with us in the bigs for him.

Lindor not going anywhere and Semien at 2B for a couple years. I think Ewing is the future in CF so if it came down to one of them I'm glad we kept Ewing.

I think I liked Sproat more than Tong. Who was our higher rated prospect?

Where was Jett ranked among our prospects?

If Ewing is not the future in CF, then Morabito might be. I'm glad we kept him too.

Well that is a unique skill you have. Post that you want something, and it immediately comes true. I think your talent is being wasted in this thread.

Generally speaking Sproat is behind McLean and Tong. Jett was roughly 3 or 4 in Mets top 10.
I’m a prospect hugger as well.

Sorry to see Jett leave.

But you have to give up talent to get talent !

Here’s my dream :

Sign Skubal / extend Peralta and you have top 3 rotation of Skubal / Peralta and MCLean

Skubal would probably need to be short term / large AAV deal given Stearns reluctance to Long term deals

Tong much better than Sproat in terms of potential

I think they add another OF bat, but nothing major.

Assuming that Senger doesn't make the opening day roster, AND assuming that none of the rookies are ready (which we'll see), then the 13 opening day position players are pretty much determined.

Lindor
Soto
Bichette
Polanco
Semien
Vientos
Robert
Taylor
Alvarez
Baty
Torrens
Mauricio
Young.

That's all there is. While I wouldn't be averse to going to war with that 13, I do think they'll add a bat.

Skubul is not a FA, but Valdez is a FA.

No chance of Jett being another PCA. PCA was an 80 rated fielder, which is top of scale.
U

Agree with you but I thought Jett was the better hitter than PCA as a prospect. I always thought PCA had 5 tool potential coming up and is making the most of it now while Jett is already considered to be a 5 tool talent. At least that’s what I thought. Hate losing him.

Don't sleep on the other guy we received.

Myers, 27, also has been an effective starter in the majors since being called up in 2024, compiling a 3.48 ERA in 31 starts over the last two seasons. He also has a 1.62 ERA in 18 relief appearances in his short career.

His first name is Tobias, which is kind of cool,.in an old school way.
And we share the same birthday.

Although he is slightly younger than me. LOL

Good move by the Mets. I am surprised that the grumpy Mets fans have not commented
This is what Stearns should have addressed first when talking about run prevention. The lying wasn't necessary. That is what piss people off. Make your moves, be upfront, and keep it moving. It's a business and we get it.

Wow, I can't even compare this team to the last couple of years. So many new parts that have to work themselves out. The clubhouse hopefully will have a huge change in dynamics! Can't wait for the season to start.
