For those without quad boxes and 3 TVs

Torrens hustles and doesn’t stop playing hard ….
Mullins the moron stops in between first and second and just stands there instead of stopping at second or running to 3rd

Absolutely pathetic. Would anyone be surprised if the cubs swept the Mets? Anyone still feel like this team doesn’t need to dismantled?

Surprised? Thats the most likely outcome. That same Cubs team that has played like floundering fish this weekend will all of a sudden be juiced up and playing like their hair is on fire.

I would not be surprised if the Cubs swept the Mets. Nor would I be surprised if the Mets swept the Cubs. Nothing about this team would surprise me at this point.

Seriously, that would shock me. He's a prideful professional. And it's not like he had any real ties to the Mets, other than cashing a seven figure signing bonus check. But who knows.
Doubt any pro would whiff on purpose, just was thinking maybe after he whiffed, he may have thought about how it impacted the team that drafted him.

Found this on him:

On September 16, 2024, Crow-Armstrong revealed his feelings about the trade, saying, "I didn’t feel like I was a part of any trade talks that I had seen on TV or anything like that." He continued, "I had a sling on my shoulder… I thought it was a joke."

Had not realized he made the All Star team this year.

PCA not only was an All Star STARTER this year, he was well on pace to being a serious MVP candidate. He tailed off in the second half.

I don't view his comment as vitriolic toward the Mets. If anything, it sounds self-deprecating. He was injured as the time, and assumed he wouldn't be traded because he had little market value. (Like "Javier Baez AND Trevor Williams for ME? You're kidding, right?) At least that's how I interpret it.

Dodgers lose to Giants. And Phils about the lose to Diamondbacks.
That's quite ironic. Two division leaders, and the wild card leader all losing to teams on the same day. D-backs one game behind the Mets.

“I tried to kick it — I think, more instinctively than actually trying,” Young said. “Just as a kid or as a person, you never want the ball to hit the ground. … I’ll give credit to my [under-8] soccer coach. … I played soccer a lot growing up and was never great at it. I was just fast. So the kicking skills, they came out of nowhere.”

“JY’s showing why he’s the most exciting center fielder in the game,” Irvin said. “He made the best play I’ve ever seen in person. Probably just ever seen in general.”
As if that wasn’t enough, he robbed a home run in the ninth.
“Once you get close enough,” Young said. “You got to jump and hope.”

FYI for those who have not yet conceded: Tyrone Taylor played 9 innings for Syracuse in its finale. Assuming no setbacks tomorrow, I expect him to be in the lineup on Tuesday.

Binghamton won the first game of its best of three series for the Eastern League title. They play on Tuesday and then if necessary on Wednesday. I guess it's possible we could see Senga in one of those games.

A lot of my friends are complaining about how the Mets spent all of this money on Soto but didn't invest properly in pitching. From my perspective, the GM did a good job. How was he to guess that Senga, Manaea, and to a lesser extent everyone else would all pitch below their potential? Then he goes out and gets a great setup man in Helsley that ends up blowing 4 saves in two weeks. Sometimes things just don't go your way.

I did think getting Frankie Montas was a mistake but other than that, I can't say I disagree too much with how things were handled.

Investing in hitting is like the S&P 500. Investing in pitching is more like penny stocks. The potential reward is high, but so is the risk.

IMO, you buy bats and develop arms - which you must do in quantity, because they aren't all going to make it.

Nick Pivetta is making a million this year and back loading next three years.
Thats better then 17.5 for Montas , TJ surgery will get mets 75% of the money back for next year

Nick Pivetta's contract is a four-year, $55 million deal with the San Diego Padres, which includes a $3 million signing bonus, a $1 million salary in 2025, and escalating salaries of $19 million in 2026, $14 million in 2027, and $18 million in 2028. The contract also contains opt-out clauses for Pivetta after the 2026 and 2027 seasons,

Some of the discussion in the previous couple of emails may be spot on, but I don't see the offense as blameless. Overall it's been very good. But too often it just disappears. It seems (and I could be wrong) more streaky than most offenses.

I agree. These last two critical losses to the Nats certainly aren't on the pitching staff. Crappy defense and crappy offense. But when it's Lindor and Soto with the crappiest defense, what are you gonna do? You have to live with it.

Padres clinch their spot tonight. Only 2.5 behind the Cubs (Padres own the tiebreaker) for home field in the first round. I'll be rooting hard for the Mets for the next three days.....even Soto.
Pads still have a shot at the West. 2.5 behind LA

Is that the first play like that for Soto ??
Not the best time for it to happen

Why didn’t Alvarez throw down to second pitch before ??? Too busy worrying about a check swing that wasn’t even close
