Did you forget 2022 when there was a 20% drop. Did you post then?

No. Corrections are a normal part of market activity. I generally don’t post about political actions in this thread because we haven’t seen a POTUS start a global tariff war combined with massive firings and curtailing research projects. I think this is something entirely different from a market correction.

I sincerely hope that I am completely wrong.

Tesla is up because Musk is leaving the WH. Not sure if he can really repair the damage done and really leave the WH.
I genuinely can’t think of a worse marketing move than Elon doing what he’s done while trying to appeal to the EV market.

It honestly makes the Bud Light Dylan Mulvaney disaster look like child’s play.

market still hasn’t hit bottom. These tariffs wars are not good for anyone.
Agreed, tariffs wars are awful. I look forward to those other nations cutting back on their US tariffs. I guess our new policy is to match what others are doing. So, when they cut, we cut. Right?

I think I’ll do some buying this week and going to be some really good buy at earning season. Slow and consistent incremental buying every quarter like I was still working.

Why should they? They'll just increase trade with China and each other and wait out mango man's term. By then the American economy will be so damaged that the next president will be forced to lower them.

Good plan. Sounds like Israel and Canada want to cut their tariffs to 0% if US will do the same. The quicker this is resolved the sooner we will be back at ATHs.

If the US economy gets damages, most other economies won't exist anymore. Don't you think reciprocal rates are fair? Why are some of our biggest allies charging us so much?

Do you really think this admin is doing this to be fair? Or is it so they can cut taxes for their billionaire friends and have the middle class pay for it?

Who are these economies that won't exist anymore? Again, this is just going to leave a vacuum for China to fill.

I think Trump’s 10% tariff for all countries, basically all imports, will not be eliminated after any negotiations. Trump wants it as an additional revenue source but will hurt US consumers and increase inflation.

President Reagan on tariffs. We could use some of his logic these days:

Is that the one where he said nobody should have tariffs. Or the one where he said the rest of the world should screw us over with tariffs? Because only one exists

Consumers will be hurt. People will still buy the goods because there is no cheaper alternative.
Some consumers will stop consuming. Two of my nephews brought their cars the last two months before the tariffs. Many of them spend too much money already going on 2-4 vacations a year and dining out way too much. They know they will get a nice inheritance when their parent pass. Luckily, the kids are in school and no longer need day care.

However, I see many many more small businesses going out of business.

Do you think China is going to buy the cheap stuff from Vietnam when they make too much cheap stake for then to use already? US economy catches a cold, other economies get pneumonia.

When US exports slow down, the countries that normally buy from us will find other sellers. Like how the EU is going to stop buying F-35s. I'm not saying anyone is going to be pain free, but I don't think we have the world at our mercy the way you think we do.
