We wonder if you will ever have anything nice to say about Rutgers, Syracuse fan.I wonder who’d be favored if we played them at a neutral site.
God damn right we play Wagner. And ShouldWhat I do know is, we would never schedule them to find out.
Instead we play Wagner again, Sagarin 259 out of 261 last year. Nice job Greg.
Would anyone be surprised if we play them in 2024 too ?
It's true we play Wagner again when I thought it would be a one year thing. But you know what? If we play Wagner in 2024, 2025 and 2026 I have no problem. What I do know is, we would never schedule them to find out.

Yes I would be surprised, because we were not originally scheduled to play them in 2023. They were a late addition when Ohio U. bailed. What I do know is, we would never schedule them to find out.

No.UConn likely won't schedule us unless it's home and home. Would you schedule them on those terms?
Greg hates playing Temple, so I don't expect them to be on the schedule again until after his tenure is over. However, from a fans perspective it is the equivalent of a home game every year as the Linc can pretty much be considered another home game for Rutgers. It is actually easier for us fans in South Jersey to get to the Linc than SHI Stadium.No.
Even though I’m not a fan (would prefer a 2/3-1), do that with Temple.
The local bought game can be with UMass instead.
Wagner has 2000 students. Not student-athletes, students. I get you want some relatively "easy wins" but c'mon. And to do it a second time ! Play Lehigh, Monmouth or someone like that.God damn right we play Wagner. And Should
Continue to play the worst 1AA we can. If UCONN joins the Big 12 we can play them instead of Cuse or BC.
I don’t care if they have 28 students. 1AA games are about easy wins, fine tuning things, and getting young guys reps. You want to play Lehigh. Fine. That’s no different in anyone’s eyes but maybe yours for some reason. Michigan is the winningest program in NCAA history. Yet every week 1 you get to watch them lose to 1AA App state. And New Hampshire says hiWagner has 2000 students. Not student-athletes, students. I get you want some relatively "easy wins" but c'mon. And to do it a second time ! It is interesting to see now 8 full seasons into Big 10 play how some of the fan base has switched from ‘We want to play the best! Bring on the Big 10!’ To ‘schedule the lowest cupcakes possible to get the win total up!’God damn right we play Wagner. And Should

Bro, the problem is we aren’t ‘fine tuning’ anything against a team like that. We beat them 66-7 last year which you would think would indicate a ‘well oiled machine’ even against a 1-AA opponent, and proceeded to go 1-8 in conference and get blown the hell off the field not by the blue bloods, but by ‘perennial powers’ like Maryland and Minnesota.I don’t care if they have 28 students. 1AA games are about easy wins, fine tuning things, and getting young guys reps. It seems like we're doing both aren't we?It is interesting to see now 8 full seasons into Big 10 play how some of the fan base has switched from ‘We want to play the best! Bring on the Big 10!’ To ‘schedule the lowest cupcakes possible to get the win total up!’
Sad what terrible leadership causes
I don’t see any posts excited about getting into big 10 play this year and seeing what this team can do no. In fact, most of the Big 10 conversation I’m seeing is can we beat 1 win Northwestern? It’s an entirely different conversation than what was occurring early on. Heck after we beat Michigan in 14’, we were all on cloud 9! We were about to arrive! Then it all went downhill due to poor leadershipIt seems like we're doing both aren't we?
I’d have no problem with as weak an OOC schedule as we can. 9 B1G games are enough. Sign me up for 7-5 (4-5) and a Bowl game. It's true we play Wagner again when I thought it would be a one year thing. But you know what? If we play Wagner in 2024, 2025 and 2026 I have no problem.
True Wagner was #259 last year but we'll also play the #3, #5, #6, #31 and #37 this year. Having a no doubt about it, guaranteed, send the bus to pick them up and save about $500,000 win on our schedule every year is fine with me.
You don’t watch a lot of football I guess. Happens every year. There is zero benefit to playing anything but a horrible 1AA to start the season.Bro, the problem is we aren’t ‘fine tuning’ anything against a team like that. There’s no fine tuning whatsoever vs Wagner. Vs temple? Sure! And realistically, for a Big 10 east program, temple should be a cupcake
Also, Michigan lost to App state in 2007. I get some of our fans (who still believe in Schiano) are stuck in that era, but it was one time, 16 years ago. It by no means happens every year.
Furthermore App State that year was coming off an appearance in the 1-AA NC game so they actually were half decent.
Wagner has won 1, yes count it, 1 game since BEFORE COVID. It’s apples to oranges
How long has Iowa been in the Big? They won their 1AA game 7-3 last year. Seems like 2 million well spentIt is interesting to see now 8 full seasons into Big 10 play how some of the fan base has switched from ‘We want to play the best! No one disputes 1aa. Issue is, Wagner is only that because there’s no 1aaaaaaa.How long has Iowa been in the Big? They won their 1AA game 7-3 last year. Seems like 2 million well spent
The 1AA schools you and I mentioned would beat Wagner by five TDs. There’s bad and then there’s really, really bad. Wagner falls into the latter categoryI don’t care if they have 28 students. I do not understand the 'play the most difficult 1-AA game possible' logic at all. It's like warming up for a marathon by running 10 miles with your hands taped together the day before the race; it's irrational and no one really cares about it unless you fall on your face and get hurt. How long has Iowa been in the Big? Agree, except I never want to see New Hampshire or any team affiliated with Ricky Santos on the schedule ever again.I don’t care if they have 28 students. 1AA games are about easy wins, fine tuning things, and getting young guys reps. You should look at the OOC's played by SEC schools. What I do know is, we would never schedule them to find out.

Where is Cincy going? Can't imagine why Big12 would want UConn. They sacrificed their football program (what was left of it) to prop up basketball. And the Big12 doesn't need help in the basketball department. Just can't see UConn adding value there.
Cincy, BYU, UCF, Houston start B12 play this year.Where is Cincy going?
They need to be taken care of.
Which is ironic if true because Syracuse also played WagnerWe wonder if you will ever have anything nice to say about Rutgers, Syracuse fan.
And they play #223 Colgate this coming seasonWhich is ironic if true because Syracuse also played Wagner
Lehigh has got a new coach this year. They finally stepped up and are bringing in someone who has credentials as the previous offensive coordinator at Yale. Yale was the top offense in the Ivy League and top 25 in FCS last year. Couple years he will likely have that program turned around, plus that would be a super bowl game for Lehigh and Greg doesn't like those local rivalry games. Don't see them scheduling Lehigh any time soon.Wagner has 2000 students. Not student-athletes, students. I get you want some relatively "easy wins" but c'mon. And to do it a second time ! I watch plenty of football, app state certainly isn’t beating Michigan every year. That happened 1 time 15 years ago. Now does every year a random P5 get upset by what’s supposed to be an early season tune up? Sure! Heck Eastern Michigan vs us comes to mind. You don’t watch a lot of football I guess. Happens every year. There is zero benefit to playing anything but a horrible 1AA to start the season.
If I were the commish of the ACC, B12,and PAC. I would build some kind of alliance with the other 2 to try and close the gap with the Big 10 and SEC.Can't imagine why Big12 would want UConn. They sacrificed their football program (what was left of it) to prop up basketball. And the Big12 doesn't need help in the basketball department. Just can't see UConn adding value there.
Lehigh doesn’t seem to to desire the “paycheck” games. Last Div 1a team they played was Navy back in 2019 I thinkLehigh has got a new coach this year.
